What is a good % tint that wont decrease visibility at night?

Hello guys. I recently just picked up a 2008 G35xS, black/black, and I feel like its a crime to NOT have tints on the car. After I picked it up I was looking to immediately get 35% tints all around, and my dad has a serious problem with it (he paid for the car) because he feels it will decrease my visibility at night. As far as I know and can tell from being in friends cars with 35%, I cant even notice a difference at night. Would you guys mind weighing in as far as benefits/risks of having tint, and what affect a 35% tint has on night time visibility?

Thanks!
Nelson

35% is good, but if you really really want visibility (and your dad to stfu) ide say go 50%

I've never had any issue whatsoever with 35% tint and nighttime visibility.

20% begins to become a problem.

5% can be very dangerous due to severely reduced nighttime visibility.

yea go with 35% you wont regret it. Not too dark and not to light, an equal compromise for you and your father. As far as benefits and risk, benefits of tints include privacy and protection from the sun for you and your cars interior. As far as risk, depending where you live cops might bust your chops!

Have 35% on my older car but 20% on the G. Takes a little getting used to but I like the 20% WAY better.

You might also mention to your dad that nowadays many SUVs (and some other cars) come from the factory with rear windows tinted roughly 35% - sometimes even darker.

I forgot to mention, he doesnt care about the rear windows, I could get those 20% for all he cares. His issue is specifically with the side windows. Appreciate all the posts so far

I also got black/black and 30% tint all around. I have absolutely no problems with visibility. However, I do wish I had actually gone DARKER. During certain times of the day and during certain angles, the tint looks too light and I can see everything inside even at a fairly long distance. I think a darker tint as opposed to a lighter tint would suit a black/black car very nice. But if you sincerely are worried about visibility issues than I suggest nothing darker than 30-35%.

I have 30% and have no issue at all. I can see perfect at night.

On a side note get the tints done at a place that does computer cut tints. They come out great, take half the time to do and leaves only a very very small part of the window edge untinted. Only like a 1/4 inch. Also no of a chance of them slicing the window trim with a razor blade.

Good luck
