Formula One...LLumar...3m?

I need help...

Somewhat new to the site, new car and no idea what tint to get.

A buddy of mine who recently got a sick m45 had a friend tint his car and got 5% all the way around and 30% on the winshield.

The installer did an exceptional job but throughout the process he destroyed the inside of the M. There was trash everywhere and some sort of liquad residue on the dash and all i could think of is my g with 200 miles on it and the new car smell fading. ha!

Before i get the same fella to do my car i wanted to get some feedback on a few areas.

Who makes the best tint?

Should i just take it in and get it done by local tint company?

And what should i expect to pay if i went with 15% all the way around and 30% on the winshield?

Thanks in advance for any feedback and if there are any Obsidian g owners with 15% or 5% tint please post pics.

I've had both Formula One and LLumar. For Metalized Tint both are very good, but I preferred the look and longevity of the Formula One. I do not like the color of the Formula One Ceramic tint. This weekend I'm going to put Huber Optic Ceramic on my wifes Nissan Quest. I ended up getting Diamond tint on my G. I wish I had gotten either the Huber Optic Ceramic or the Formula One Metalized.

I have Llumar and its very nice tint. I went 15% all around and its honestly perfect. I havent done my windshield, but if I were going to do it, id do a really light tint such as 45-50%. During the day, you can slightly see inside my car, but at night, hell no. 5% is way too dark IMO and at night it would be very hard to see, cuz I have issues seeing with 15%.

I have Llumar 15% too, the shade of gray goes perfectly with my DG. I have had Llumar in the past and on my other car too. Have yet to see them fail or change color.

Tint shade varies, as you can tell, mostly based on state laws.

I will address the other issue though, are you thinking about going to this guy that destroyed your boys M? Sounds like he knows what he's doing, but is lazy. I would just go to a shop and get it done since there is obviously some debate of his skills. If you go to a shop they gurantee it as well so if anything ever happens you just bring it back. If this guy was leaving the glue on the dash, somehow I'm guessing he isn't going to back up his work when it bubbles.

Good luck...and definitley post pics. Would love to see your BO with 15% all around and 30% on the windshield...

Definitely have a local shop do it - I checked around to find a good one, and when I got the car back it was a great job, plus the G was spotless.

Went with 3M this time, their metallic tint, 30% all the way around. It's a great smoky color, looks cool.

^^^I've got Formula One ceramic tint 35% all around and I like them so far. I can't say anything about the other tints but so far the Formula One is holding up well and has no sign of fading.

Is that smokey color standard, because it is going on a black g and i would rather it be black toned tint... if that makes sense

also is dvsmeth0dz how long have you had the tint?

They have different versions, but I was surprised at the color of this - looks great on PG, not sure how it would look on OB. The SolarGard tint I used previously was definitely a black.
