What platform is the G35 Sedan built on?

A friend asked me if the G35 is built on the Maxima or 350Z platform. I told him I thought the G35 is its own platform - not based on either (such as the Lexus ES350 built on the Camry platform). Would someone enlighten me? Thanks.

I'm not sure but it must be the Z platform because you can swap the suspension parts.

According to the Wiki....

"The G35 is based on the Nissan FM platform shared with the Nissan 350Z sports car and Infiniti FX crossover SUV."

Yea what it says on wiki is what I have read countless times also. However, it was always about the >06 G's, not the current ones.

It should still be the same, don't you think?

07+ is still based on the FM platform. Guess they stuck with what worked.

That is also mentioned in the Wiki article btw.

07+ is based on a newer version of the FM platform.

G35
G37
M35/45
FX35/37/45/50
EX35/37

All are based on the FM platform and all use a VQ or VK

I figured it was but I didn't want to say something that I wasn't sure about since I couldn't remember reading it.

You might as well be specific and tell your friend that it's the V36 FM platform. The wheelbase is obviously stretched from the Z, so it's not exactly like the case of Camry/ES.

Nissan builds most of its RWD/AWD vehicles off the FM Platform (Front Midship). Other cars include:

Infiniti G37
Infiniti M35/45
Infiniti FX35/45/50
Infiniti EX35

The wheelbase is just extended to accomodate a larger vehicle. The Nissan GT-R is built off the PM (Premium Midship) Platform.

EDIT: I should probably check all responses before writing my own...my above post was already covered.
