Sat dead?

Has anyone had their Sirius go bad? Today when I went to go to lunch, I turned the car on and all I got was dead air with a static blip every couple of seconds. I also cannot change the channels. Regular radio works fine. It's not showing any messages.

That happens with Sirius every now and then.. have you tried it again? I've also found that sometimes the signals are broken and I get electronic static.

Usually it's a bad antenna. is yours a factor sirius or aftermarket?

It's a factory antenna. I've had Sirius since 2001 and I've never experienced this particular thing. It's completely dead silent with the exception of a static blip every 4 seconds or so. None of the tuning controls work whether it be the steering wheel, tuning **** or preset buttons. One time it did work, but it was extremely slow. I was thinking antenna, but I would think it would say searching for signal.

Another odd thing. When on a sat channel I hear a slight thump from the sub just before the static blip. Both of these sounds are very subtle. It doesn't sound like dead air, it sounds like it's completely off. No hissing at all.

I've heard of antennas going bad and doing something similar. Would probably be the first place to look.
