Homelink Mirror

Hi,
I have an 07 sedan with the auto dimming mirror with no compass or homelink and would like to know if it is possible to retrofit an 08 auto dimming mirror with homelink only without having to do any modifications such as wiring.
In Dubai we are not given the option of getting our mirrors with homelink which is a slight disappointment.
I really do not like the look of the mirror with compass and also do not want to go for an aftermarket alternative rather than just getting the 08 mirror for NAV which is exactly like my current mirror only with the homelink button.
Can I just order the mirror from a dealer in the US and take it to my dealer and have them replace my current mirror?

My apologies for the long write-up but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Borna

i think that might work, call a dealer and ask, it all depends on if the homelink system is inside in the mirror or if it is some where else in the car and just the buttons are on the mirror.

good luck

Thats what I'm confused about myself... I can't seem to find if it's in the mirror or not and the dealer here has no idea since they don't supply them. Hopefully one of the guys from Riverside can chime in.

The Homelink is self contained in the OEM mirror! There will be three wires coming from the mirror - two seperate power leads and a ground. One of the power leads is for continous power, the other is for the compass once the ignition is on.

so that means the mirror is retrofittable without any modifications?
since i want the 08 nav mirror which doesnt have the compass (my car should have only 2 wires) it should just be a quick swap...

if so then that's great news and would like to order one if anyone knows where to do so, my dealer says they cant order one since infiniti of middle east doesnt supply them with the homelink mirror

thanks for ur help

Yes, I believe it's an easy swap; the wiring for power is already there since you have an autodimming mirror. Let me double check the plug before I say its 100%

Just be careful about how you glue the new mirror on, and make sure you get the spot really really clean before you do it

wouldn't I just be able to change the mirror itself and leave the base? I don't really want to have to remove the base and have to re-glue a new one back on. thanks for your help Mike

YES - You will be able to simply remove your current mirror from the base already on the windshield, and replace it with the new one.

However, the wires do not "plug" into the mirror, rather they originate from inside the mirror and so you will have to either splice your new mirror wires to the existing wires, or remove the old wiring and re-run the new wires to back their power source!

One last tip: whichever option you choose, make sure your ground wire is properly grounded or the mirror will not work.
