removing windshield tint (on my brothers car)

So my brother has windshield tint he has had it for some time, he has 50% and after he saw my car he wants to go down to 35%. So i was just curious, is it as simple as stripping the windshield and re-tinting a darker tint, just like how they do with the side and rear windows? its not any harder or the tint shop wont run into any issues taking the front windshield tint off, right?

I had to get my rear window redone because some tiny tiny bubbles were forming on the defroster lines...the guy just got an exacto knife to lift the edge of the tint. and just peeled it off very carefully...

after he peeled it off, there was some of the sticky goo left on, so he used some kinda solution and cleaned the window again. looked painless

Windex works good for the glue, x gf had messed up tint and I just peeled and soaked the window with windex, wiped clean. took a couple try but worked out ok.

Thats what I have done in the past, I also have a plastic scouring pad I use that helps get the glue off. It kinda looks like a brillo pad, only its plastic and does not scratch glass.

I had a friend use steel wool once, and it all worked out fine, except the rear doors had lil corner windows and they must not have been real glass cuase they scratched REAL bad. It was a late 90's Bonneville.

i think he just used the baby shampoo and water formula and one of those wedges used to flatten the tint. just used that to scrape off the gooey stuff. he did it in like 4 minutes

You can use a steam machine the tint up and just start peeling away and most of the glue would stay with the tint. Clean the remaining glue with a brillo pad.
