Ive decided to go with a stillen intake for my 08 6mt sedan. The question is short tube or long tube? I'm not expecting any major performance gains, Im just looking for a throatier growl. Suggestions?

IMO both will give you similar if ANY gains, the sound will be the same, so it comes down to looks, if you like a bit of chrome in your engine bay go for the long tunes otherwise short tubes should surfice.

Consider the money difference...

From what i understand long tube or cold air intakes will hurt your top end...i am still confused about the little details. I have a CAI and it has provided awesome gains, but everyone else says otherwise i haven't heard much feed back on the HR motors though.

Thanks for the input. From what I have heard / read, the horsepower gains are minimal at best. I am really only looking for a deeper sound. I wasnt sure if either one made a difference. (I know the price is different) Any other ideas for a throtier growl (other than the obvious exhaust system)?

Some people said Injen is Louder than Stillen. I have use Short tube from Stillen before. It's sound great.I like it but not notice of HP gain so i swithch back to Stock and it's even feel better HP.So i guess i will stick with stock

I have heard that the Injen worked out better for some people. I just figured go with Stillen due to the relationship with Nissan / Infiniti. Anyone else have any experience with the Injen?

If you want a good intake that really has many good reviews, go for the JWT Pop Charger, its $315 for the group buy over at myg37.com, it has proven gains of upto 10WHP from dynos, check them out also you do not have fear of hydrolock.

yes sir checkout myg37.com under intakes and exhaust, suprisingly there are few dynos that back up that claim of 6.5-10whp

group buy has ended on that now tho. but yes, several different dynos have shown gains from 6 to 10 and actually a 13hp increase at the rev limiter on one sheet.

So it sounds like the jwt pop charger is the way to go. Do you have to remove the bumper / wheel for the install? What do you think of sound improvements with the Berk HFC's?

you don't have to remove the wheel, the bumper, the washer bottle... its a much simpler install and costs quite a bit less than the Injen. My avatar picture above is a pic of them installed.

Long tubes eliminate the cats and hook directly up to the y-pipe. Short tubes use the stock cats or test pipes and then hook to the y-pipe.
