I-Key

this may be a stupid question...but can someone confirm that the I-Key is at least water resistant or is it actually water proof?

I would assume it is at least water resistant, but am hoping it is water proof.

thanks

I remember a member washing his iKey with his pants and it still worked...so it's soap resistant too haha

Not sure why you would think that? There's no waterproof gasket or anything around it, and when you take it apart (to replace the battery), there appear to be little crevices that would let water in.

I highly doubt that it's officially water resistant or water proof. I certainly wouldn't take my chances exposing it to water.

My buddy at work has run his 08 fob through the wash three times now and it still works.
I don't suggest it, but it's good to know.

I would assume it is at least water resistant to a degree but I would not assume water proof.

What the heck did you do to it? LOL

I lurk a little. Summer is usually nutty around here but, then again, so is the rest of the year. LOL

Hoping to be back on the site more. As for being in here, I'm not in here much anyway. I can't do much to my car with it being a lease so I don't want to drool too much. LOL I'm thrilled I did the lease though with the 37 set to come in the future. Me thinks my next G will be a convertible. It's midlife crisis time baby!!!!

I have never taken it apart...i just assumed they would make it at least water resistant.

nothing yet...but when i go cycling i put it in my jersey pocket. the other day i got caught in the rain. so about 25 miles out i started wondering if it would still work or not.

If it is not at least water resistant, then i may start keeping it in a zip lock when i ride.

.

I would think that rain would be okay (mine was in my jersey pocket over 30 miles in 98 degrees, it probably got that much sweat...), but a ziplock is always a good idea. Or in the saddle bag.

I'm sure for most reasonably normal situations you would be fine. I wouldn't suggest repeatedly running it through the washing machine or going swimming with it but otherwise you should be fine.

I am still voting for water resistant but NOT waterproof.
