Question about G35 quirks
Hey, I have been heavily considering buying a G35 and a took it out for a demo the other day. I came across two minor annoyances and I'm wondering if a G35 owner can tell me if they are fixable.
1) When in route guidance, it appears that answering a call over bluetooth takes you to a screen containing the call information (name of person/duration of conversation) and locks you from returning to the map screen or hearing the next direction until the call is ended.
2) When using the voice commands, pressing the voice button while hearing the long-winded list of commands pauses what the person is saying, rather than letting you speak your command before the list has been read completely. Is there a way to turn off reading of the voice prompts altogether, or at least allow you to skip them if you know exactly what you want to do?

re: 1 - yes, that bugs. i haven't bothered taking the time to find a way around that yet, but i can give it a shot on the way home.
re: 2 - YOU'RE IN LUCK AND OH MY FLIPPING JEBUS THAT BUGGED SO MUCH. there's a setting in settings -> navi (i think) where you can turn off detailed explanations. I can look it up if need be.
I hit the voice button, it beeps, i bark commands at my car, it does them. it's too nice, hah

1) I'm pretty sure i tried pressing the map button and it was locked out. Let me know if someone can get any confirmation on this.
2) I think i tried alternate commands and it definitely shortened the amount of stuff that you have to listen to, but pressing the voice button while she's talking still just paused her instead of letting you interrupt with a command if i remember correctly. Is there any way to just interrupt and do what you need to do?

It's just that jsmonet disagreed with you and said it was a problem, and when i had the car for a demo i tried hitting the map button and it didnt work. If you're confident that it works then I'm satisfied.

Coming out of an Acura i must say the 2nd is real annoying. In Acura as soon as the next item is needed you can hit the voice button and say the next instruction, makes for very fast interaction, not so with Infiniti!
The first regarding hitting the 'MAP' button during a BT call is correct. If your phone does not play well with Infiniti then it is possible that this might not work. That may be why some are saying it doesn't work. The way it is supposed to work, however, is that you press the 'MAP' button while in BT and it goes back to navigation screen.
In regard to the voice commands for NAV I would say that yes, this is very annoying. I had an M before this (06) and it appears they dumbed down the voice command menu for stupid people. You can choose the 'alternate commands' but you are 100% correct - the lady asks for the information, pauses a millisecond and then you start talking and then she throws out the ridiculously, redundantly, frustratingly and any other term you can come up with OR (I hate when she says 'OR' because the next sentence is 'press the back button' blah blah blah when I'm in the middle of giving a command!!!!!).
So yes, the voice command is annoying, however, for as bad as it is, I am getting used to it and now I smile when I start to talk over the lady's 'OR' comments. My fault for not learning quickly enough
Also, I do like that it brings up a list of streets/items that sound close to your command that you can choose from if it doesn't recognize a specific street name you mention. Way improved over the 06 nav system so I'll take the tradeoff.
Annoying - yes. . . deal killer - heck no! I would defy anyone to find a nav system that is EXACTLY what they would want. Again, you use it, you learn how to work with it and it's not so bad.
Hope that helps!
