Okay, so who knew there are two diff maintenance reminder systems?

I'm used to the main LCD reminder, which is set to remind me of oil changes, air filter changes etc; they periodically pop up on the LCD when the G is started.

To my horror, while driving today an "oil maintenance" display pops up on the dash (red panel between the tach and speedo). CRAP! I hop out, check the oil (full), check the manual (oil pressure symbol - don't drive the car).

Only by talking to the dealer do I find out that there's the maintenance reminder system for the LCD; and a completely separate, unconnected, system for the small dash LCD. Had never seen it, hadn't set it, and randomly the first alarm popped up at 22.3k miles.

Anyway, the good news is no trashed engine, the bad news was only some stress

yea, i wasn't necessarily aware of the maint. reminders but I did know the two mpg monitors were independant. I can reset the mpg on the center dash display and the lcd one by the gauges will show different. i never reset the one on the dash display and use the one in the lcd for my local trip or vacation tests.

Yep, looks like they had the one system (dash display), and just added the LCD without removing the other.

*raises hand*

why do you think you have to reset the mpg gauge on both the navi and the in-dash separately when you elect to do this?

I first noticed this when I was reading the manual.
I was using the reminders in the navi screen, but the manual shows the reminders coming up in the center console display.
I did a little digging and found this tidbit as well.

I knew it!!

Yeah, there are two reminder like you said. One in the nav screen and the other in dash. In my case, I don't use the dash one at all.
