Please help me out!
Please help me out!
Hi guys
I picked up my 2008 G35 in July, and I love this thing.
Anyhow, I am looking to buy 20 inches sevas s55 rims( I heard some bad stories but we will see how it goes.)
I just have a few quetion for you guys
1. What offset should I get?
2. What tire size should I run this at? (I'm not planning to lower my car, and if there are tires that would help fill the gap, please let me know.
3. Will I be needing spacers for this set up??
4. Do you think allignment is a must? (I've changed 17inch to 18 inch on my last ride and it was fine.. but tires worn out faster than I expected)
Thanks!!!!

AFAIK, Sevas S55's only come in a +40 offset front and rear with a 20x8.5 and 20x10 size.
Tire sizes should be around 245/35/20 front and 275/30/20 rear although you could run a 255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear.
You would probably want to lower your car if you're going for these wheels as the rears will stick out of the fender a bit due to the high offset.
If you do lower your car you would need to run some negative camber in the rear and get a 10mm spacer in the front to make the fronts more flush.
Alignment is a must for a smoother ride when you lower your car but what wears out your tires is the amount of negative camber which can always be dialed in although if you decide to not lower your car you won't need to adjust the camber.
You can find more info on the spreadsheet in this thread that terrycs made:

is there a way to minmize the sticking out?
What would be the disadvantage of not lowering it?
And also, I really liked the way this car was sitting
CarFreak
Sport 20 x 8.5 37 245/35/20 20 x 10 48 275/30/20 DPE R16
I think this is what I'm trying to benchmark, any concerns I should have?
Oh by the way thank you very much for your responses!!!!

20" rims on an unlowered G just doesn't look good. I think the key is if the gap between the tire and the fender is larger than the thickness of the tire profile, it gives a car the 4x4 look. That and the fact that unlowered, the tires will not be cambered enough and the rear rims/tires will stick out past the fender.
If you buy the Sevas rims, the rears will be pushed out 8mm more than on CarFreak's car. So, if you're not lowered, it will definitely look like it's sticking out.
Hey, I just remembered that someone is selling CarFreak's exact rims. He bought them from CarFreak a while back and is selling them again. I'd rather get some DPEs for $3K than Sevas. Check it out. Not sure if he's still selling though:

thanks for the input,
When wheels sticks out of your fenders, does it cause anything bad?
Aside from cosmetic glitch, if there is anything that I should aware of?
I will def. consider dropping but I think the the set up I looked at without any lowering satisfies me for now, but who knows I might change my mind in the end
.
but I really do think it looks pretty good without any lowering, or am I just weird?
and one more thing,
you can run this without tire pressure monitoring sensor, correct?
from what I can understand I will just have a warning light on while I'm driving. Is it easy to transfer?, I'm thinking about getting mounted at local good guys.

If the wheels stick out, they'll fling rocks and oanything else on the road right on your doors (paint).

Yes you can run w/o tire sensors. I'm doing that right now.
As for how easy it is to transfer the sensors, it depends on the rim. Some are made to accept an OEM TPMS while others, like many of the Volk rims, need to drilled or modified (strapped sensor to wheel barrel).
I think Sevas can accept sensors and I believe if you buy CarFreak's old rims, those include sensors that would only need to be reprogrammed to your car.
