Sup guys, I usually change my oil on all my cars previously owned at 3,000 everytime. My new G35 sedan has 6,500 miles on it, and I have already changed the oil at 3,000, so basically, I've driven 3,500 miles since my last oil change,but recently saw somewhere on G35driver that we should change our oil at 7,500 mile intervals. What do you guys do for your oil change intervals, what mileage,what oil ?


Cliffs(for those who hate to read, like me.) : What mileage intervals do you change your oil at ?

 

7500-8000 miles. I use synthetic oil, runnin fine at almost 30,000 miles.

I did the same with my old car, I changed the oil every 7500-8000 miles using synthetic oil and a napa gold filter. Got 160,000 miles outta the car until I gave it to my 17 year old brother who proceeded to total it.

 

7500 on synthetic is fine but unless you are running a high-end filter like Amsoil EA, I personally would (and do) change the filter halfway. The NAPA Gold is a good filter, though, it's actually a rebranded Wix.

This subject's been beaten to death in other threads, but that is simply unnecessary. If you wanna be conservative, go with 5000, makes remembering when to do it easy, just change it on the 5's on your odo.

 

I change mine every 5,000 Kilometers, that's what they recommend here so around 3,000 Miles.

Hmm need advice also! I bought my 07 G new with 10mi on her. Now it's 2009, and I have exactly 7000mi on my G. Now when I did the math, I barely put on 3000Mi in a year. So I changed my Oil to Mobil 1 5W-30 Full Synthetic at about 5,200mi In June Or July of 08. Now I have 7000mi since Last oil change. So it's been awhile since I changed the oil, and I mostly use the G on weekends only. So If I wait till every 5-7000mi oil change Intervals would take me awhile to get there. more like about a Yr and a Half or more, LOL. So what you guy's think I should do for Oil change Intervals?? I am not sure when to do it now? Every 6 months? 7-8 Months? LOL. And I run her hard every now and again, so it's not like it's babied all the time. So Appreciate any tips.

 

5W30 API Service SM + Nissan OE filter or equivalent every 7500 miles or 6 months, unless "repeated short trips of less than 5 miles in normal temperatures or less than 10 miles in freezing temperatures, stop-and-go traffic in hot weather or low-speed driving for long distances, driving in dusty conditions...

Just in case you missed it, use a good filter every time and your interval is mileage and time-based, not just mileage-based, and chosen by whether you meet the 7500 mile criteria of mostly highway driving in temperate conditions.

Oil is cheap, WalMart's Super Tech, $11 for 5 quarts meets API SM. I don't use it, but if I had to choose, I'd choose it and a good filter every 5k over synthetic every 10k.

 

depends on driving habit and conditions. me, 7500 with Mobil 1. been doing it with all my cars since i learned to change oil myself.

 

The only way you will know for sure is to get your oil analyzed. If you want to be safe, just change your oil once every year if you are using a good synthetic oil.

 

Well that's nice to know I have a little while longer to go before changing. I always run Nissan OEM filters with Mobil 1 5W30 full synthetic. Once I used a Mobil 1 filter but it didn't look any different from the Nissan filter, so I haven't changed from anything else since.

G is my daily driver with about 40 miles a day for commute, but it's mostly highway mileage.

 

3750 miles. my driving is mostly stop-and-go.

 

Switched to synthetic around 22K, will be changing it every 7500, with OEM filter (may use Mobil1 oil and filter next). I think running full synthetic and changing it every 3.5K (hell, even 5K) is unnecessarily wasteful. Driving is 1/4 city, 3/4 highway.

 

The stock Nissan filters are good filters, but the M1, K&N and Amsoil EA filters are far superior. The M1 and K&N filters are both made by Champion labs with the same materials. The K&N filters have a little more filtering media, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a better filter. There has to be a good compromise between filtering and flow. For long drain intervals, it's best to use one of the premium filters.
