SES Light

Hello Everyone,

I am not sure if this is the right section for this, or if it should go into the 'tech' section.

My Service Engine Soon (SES) light went on last night...I only have 10K miles on my car.....the light had turned on a couple of months back but went away in a couple of days, and I thought it might have been a 'fuel cap' issue.

My car is bone stock...and I am not feeling/sensing any changes in the car...can anyone think of what could be going on???

I will try to get an appointment with the dealer over the weekend, but any suggestions would help me sleep at night :-)

Thanks

I think ppl were like go to Autozone or some place was it pep boys? i can't remember and get the code pulled, or what you can do is try the fuel cap again and then reset your ecu and see if it comes back. As long as it's not blinking you're car should be able to run fine.

Do you realize just how many codes set off the SES light?

It'd be like me telling a doctor "I don't feel well, whats wrong with me?".

I don't need the 'perfect' answer...I am not quizing you and/or asking you to fix it over the forum...I just wanted to have an idea at what would set off the SES light at 10k miles....

I have been driving cars for almost 20yrs, and I have never had a 'check engine' light go on in a well maintained car, yet alone a relatively new car.

And the facts are that it is relatively new, low mileage, and no symptoms perceived, can help in eliminating a lot of those possibilities.

I understand that I have to take it to the dealer, I just wanted to know if I should do it NOW, or could it wait a few days.

Thanks anyways

Just to update everyone, I just got it back from the dealer last night, and they told me that there is a TSB out for an ECU reflash.....and that I was the first one they did for that TSB.

Hope that helps anyone with the SES light in the near future....btw, the car also felt a little sluggish before I took it in, and they said that it was part of the TSB etc....

I am not really sure...I looked for a name/number on the work order really quickly yesterday when i picked up the car but nothing stood out....

I will double check later on today and try to post if I find it.

I looked at it last night, and I meant to bring it in to the office so I can quote the exact details, but alas, i forgot it in the car....

From what I remember it was something like this:

TSB ECM reprogram DE97AA

I will reconfirm or correct this ASAP....hope that helps.

hi I found the tsb online but I can't post it on here cause I'm on my iPod. I hate how there is no copy and paste. But it's something about some oil sensor not clearing or something like that.
