Anyone try Royal Purple Synthetic Blend Oils?

Just read an oil comparison study posted at another car forum (Mazda). Very interesting...... Royal Purple Synthetic Blends with its own additives (all oils add additives) showed fantastic results compared to numerous competitors. a few users posted nice increases in MPGs.

i used to use it a lot but then read how it could fail your cats prematurely and oddly enough behind the bottle it says its for 4cyc engines which was very odd for me(if i remember correctly)

All automotive motors are 4-cycle/four-stroke, it doesn't mean 4 cylinder.

he's talking about intake, compression, power, exhaust

air n gas goes into cylinder......piston pushes into the cylinder to compress it....spark plug fires and pushes piston back and turns crankshaft...the piston pushes the burn fuel out.

I was told by my dealer that if I used synthetic I would still have to follow the scheduled oil maintenance times. That makes no sense to me as my BMW had synthetic but needed a oil change every 9-10k versus every 3500 like my dealer has scheduled.

I have some Mobile 1 synthetic, but for the price I don't want to replace on the same frequent schedule as standard oil.

Is this a load of BS, or is there some strange anomaly with our car that makes synthetic not last longer than 3500 miles like standard oils? I am leaning towards it being BS, since I know how service departments love to upsell. Hell they have 3 different types for the 15k service.. its pretty ridiculous.

It is BS.
You do not need to change Mobil 1 every 3500 miles, although you DO need to replace the filter at that interval.
Mobil 1 used to have a 150,000 mile life cycle way back when. Years back, it was dropped to 80,000 miles. It used to be printed right on the back of the can (yes, "can" back then)
It clearly stated that the oil was good for that amount of miles, but that the filter needed to be changed at regular intervals, and then the oil was to be topped off back to proper levels.

Mobil 1 now has a much shorter suggested life cycle, although it's longer than the dealer's suggested 3,500 miles.

LOL I understand the cycles. I just know some of the old cars (well kind of old 20 years or so)in Europe have the 2 stroke engine in it. Some of the eastern Europian "cars".

I guess you talking about North America.

Interesting responses. Didn't know that Royal Purple smells likes "grapes" burning.... I guess the member at the Mazda forum didn't mention THAT. But he did experience a 20% INCREASE in MPGs.....Also the EVO site reviews mention that the engines with Royal Purple are burning oil... I might try it in my Mazda 3 , not think I'll try it in my G35X.

I switched my oil to royal purple as soon as i god the car cuz i found out they used valvoline premium which IMO is sh**t. I change it prematurely at 5k miles and put in a new k&n oil filter everytime. when i switched to RP my engine began running more smoothly even at high rpms as if my engine got lighter. dono for sure but when i researched it, it was said to be one of the best. also make sure to use the import blend

Seriously, don't waste your money on that oil. For 5 years I've been using Mobile1 + random oil filter and changing every 5K miles and by the time I sold my G, the buyer just have to test drive my car once compared to 5 other cars he tested. On day he picked up the car and said "can't believe my engine still clean and quiet". Believe me, I rarely shift under 3K rpm and almost always shift at 5k or above on hwy. Again, don't waste your money on that oil.
