engine oil

I just changed my engine oil using fully synthetic 10w30 and wonder should I continued to change my engine oil according to factory maintenance of 3750 miles or could I extend it to every 5000 miles?

5000 is pretty good. I tend to keep mine at 3000-3500 range for synthetic.

I would not run 7500 unless your running Amsoil, and get a Oil report to make sure everything is ok.

7500 is okay with Amsoil and most others but depending on the filter you used, you may want to change it halfway.

Speaking of which, at the same mileage (5k), Blackstone found that my Mobil 1 EP is doing much better than the Pennzoil Platinum i had in prior changes, and to think i had a couple of track days on the M1.

Mike, you referring to their 0-30? Yeah, that's supposed to be a very good version still. I don't think their 5w 30 / 40 or their 10w30/40 fares nearly as well against the others oils.

5w30 on both. I'm a little confused, are you referring to the Pennzoil in your comment above?

I've used Amsoil and M1 for the most part, the Pennzoil was a fluke since it was all that was available locally for a while. Now that the M1 EP is fully stocked locally i was hoping to just keep using it.

Oh you meant extended performance. What's that cost? More than the other Mobil 1 synthetics?

Yep! The price varies, the Quart's tend to run between $5.5 to $6.5, roughly the same as the standard M1 Synth. The 5qt jugs come out cheaper, but it's still rather hard to find around here

I used to use nothing but Mobile 1, but as of late, I'm just not a fan of Mobile 1 anymore. After discussing motor oils in a classroom with a rep from Redline, I've come to a conclusion that Mobile 1 sucks *****.

Motul > Amsoil > Castrol > Penzoil > Mobile 1
