Max Temp Gauge in Slow Traffic...in WI Winter???
Hey guys, Just wondering if this is normal. I have a 2008 G35 Journey and when 25 degrees outside in traffic moving at about 10 - 15 mph for 15 minutes, my temp gauge is maxed. If I'm sitting in a drive thru for a long time, I have the same issue. Is this normal?

Also, don't know if related. When warming up car in morning, I'll turn the heat on and let it idle for 3 - 5 minutes. Heat is not hot at all, but warm. Then when I start to move, literally out of the driveway the air is then hot. So it seems that the heat is only coming out hot when the car is moving.

Hey Tom, Thanks for the reply. The temp gauge would bounce back down a little after maxing. And there was HOT air coming out of the vents at that time. I checked the coolant and it was full.
Two separtate issues that I think are related. I was just stating that after the car is sitting at night and I go to warm up the car in the morning and crank the heat, only warm air comes out and then hot air comes out as the car is moving. The engine is already at the normal operating temp before I start moving.
