MAF Sensor/ Intake resonator help
Update: Is it me or I see a loss of gas efficiency after I reset the ECU or is it because I deleted the resonators? I see my fuel dropping a lot quicker than before... maybe the computer needs time to relearn everything? I've drove about 70 miles since the reset but gas efficiency is still bad if not bad enough prior to this...
I was cleaning my air filters today and decided to see how the intakes would sound without the intake resonators. I removed them then attached the stock airbox along with the filter back on,... HOWEVER i forgot to plug in BOTH maf sensors and turned on the engine. It stalled for a second but the engine idle fine after... When it stutter it hit me that i forgot to plug the MAF sensor. After I plugged the MAF sensors back in and started up the engine again I realized the "Service Engine Light" is on.. I'm not sure if the light was on before or after the incident. I put back everything back into the engine bay including the resonators however, the "service engine light" is still on. Does anyone know if its just a simple engine/tranny oil change or i f****d up something? The car starts up fine and idles completely normal and drives normal but the light is still on and its bothering me.
I was wondering if removing the intake resonator should have any sound difference? b/c i didn't notice a change at all. Also does it void warranty if stock resonators are removed? Thanks

No big deal, the light came cause you startedx the car with MAFs unplugged, it should go away in a bit after a few miles when the car realizes that everything is back to normal... else you can reset the ecu with the pedal method or battery reset.
basically nothing to worry about IF the cel came on only after you forgot to plugin the MAF, iv done that before on my FX with same results and everything went back to normal soon after.

Dude you don't understand the weight you just lifted off my shoulders... thanks man. But you care to further elaborate the pedal method? and do you know if this voids warranty by any chance? thanks again

The "pedal method" refers to an ECU reset procedure that can be initiated by depressing the accelerator pedal a particular number of times in rapid succession, It is a diagnostic function that was built into our cars for technicians to use. It will NOT void your warranty. Search this forum for the particulars on the procedure; there are dozens of threads and probably even a diy stickied specifically for this.
Else if youre not easy with performing either method, then just drive the car and the light should go away by itself after a few normal runs/days.
And as VQ said this does not by any means void your warranty! G/L
Try it out, it can't hurt.

^ ya just make sure that everything is plugged in properly (intake piping, maf connectors etc) basically everything you touched and make sure its connected.
Then try the pedal reset method and remember it is very important to be spot on with the timing else just redo from the start.
let us know how it goes.

Ok the service engine light is gone now. The pedal method worked, after around 10 tries of failure I've decided to get a stop watch and the first try I got it haha... i guess i can't count seconds correctly. But instead of the "CEL" light flashing it was the "service engine soon" light that flashed.. I thought they were two seperate lights..
Edit: would this procedure only work for nissan/infiniti?

Glad you got it figured out, if there are no more problems then the light will stay off however if there is some problem the light might come back on.
This procedure is specifically for nissan/infiniti, i assume others would be similar in their newer models, you can always google the make and it should get you the proper reset sequence for almost about every make that has one.

I've been getting less fuel efficiency after I reset the ecu/ intake resonator. Is it because of the ecu relearning the airflow/fuel flow or is it because of the resonator delete...?
its probably just because of the reset imo but its hould be back to normal within a few days, dont think the resonator delete would cause any noticeable change in mpg unless you are unknowingly pushing the car more
similar problem
i got an 04' g coupe and the service engine light came on. when i checked with the scanner its says its the fuel sensor, bank 1 sensor 1. so i got it replaced. a few days later light came back on. checked it and it read the same sensor. changed it again and the light came back on a few days later. can anyone please tell me what this can be? could it be an electrical problem? please help.
