ok so i just painted my headlight housing black yesterday...and now today i see a small amount of condensation in the driver side headlight...so i guess it didn't seal up properly...what do i so now? everything looks perfect...any suggestions as to what I might want to use to seal things up better??

 

Clear silicone sealant. If that doesn't work, there's some black, butyl rubber stripping (soft, pliable type) that Nissan sells from the parts department.

 

i had that same thing before and after i parked under the sun for a couple time it never happened again..i haven't seen it after the first 2 weeks when i got em done..Now no matter how much it rains or how much i wash never condensates.

 

hmm maybe before i do something i should wait a lil'...

 

so will i have to open my headlight up, and then seal it up again with that clear silicone?

 

No, just go over the outside joints with a small bead. Like caulking the bathtub.

Open them up...and let them dry out. If you have even a SMALL amount of condensation, it will never leave if you seal it up. I had the same problem with mine. If you want them to be right, and not fog up or cause trouble down the line, take the time to open them up, dry them out, and reseal them properly.

Talk to IvoryGT...He is my headlight guru. Well, he is the board headlight specialist. He will give you the best answer you can get. I rely on him for anything related to a headlight or lights. If he says to do it, i do it...

You can use a hairdryer to evaporate the moisture off the lens. Put a vacuum on one of the bulb openings and that will suck out the moist air. You will need to re-seal with clear silicone. The factory sealant usually needs to be backed up with silicone.

 

oh so take out the headlight and open the low beam headlight cover on the back and put a vacumm there to suck up the moisture...that makes sense...good call!
