Blacked out grille, headlights, and taillights

I used plastidip to black out the grille. Took 5 coats. Grille removal was straightforward and took 25 mins. Putting the grille back on was 15-20 mins.

Headlights and taillights were blacked out by a local installer (Preferred Image) after I tried unsuccessfully to get the film to properly fit over the curved portions of the heads and tails. I originally ordered a light smoke color, but it was too light, so I went with dark smoke.

looks nice! so they just put a film over the lights on the ourside, or do they bake them to open it up and tint inside?

They are 20% 3M vinyl film applied on the outside of the light. I was considering getting the inside housings sprayed, but wanted something non-permanent since this was my first time getting headlights blacked out.

It's a little more than I would do, but I think that it looks very well done. Good job.

Curious, how does the film on the heads affect the light output? Is driving at night any different?

But I still dig em'
Did you buy these from a shop or online?

Didn't notice a drastic difference yet, but I frankly haven't been driving much at night lately. I'm not a fan of the yellowish (probably 4300k) bulbs on my Journey sedan, so I'm going to be replacing the headlight and foglight bulbs with 6000k HID bulbs soon. That should hopefully give a brighter, more white/blue appearance similar to my wife's Acura TL.
