Yea of cource, driving a fast car you know, near UCLA. The funny thing is the cop was a real *** hole, but he didnt give me a ticket for speeding and the whole time he said "why were you speeding why cmon why?" What could i say i was speechless, yes i did im sorry i have no excuse, im not going to say that. I asked to see his radar and then thats when he became even worse.

So he ends up giving me a crap load of fix it tickets, and on top of it he cites me for 2 citations but on one ticket.
1. Unsafe lane change
2. Lane Change without signal

This is my question to all the people who live in LA (might be different in other cities, thats why i asked here).

Are there any police officers, lawyers that are on this website, that can help me get out of atleast 1 of 2 citations. Or maybe both. I really want to fight it because i know i changed my lane using my signal. And if anything the most illegal thing i did was go 40 in a 35. The bad this is the cop didnt write me for that.

No sure how this is gonna help you, but at least you will have one more piece of information.

If this was LAPD(and it probably was), they are required to go to court if you challenge the ticket. A LAPD officer will get a complaint filed against them if they do not show up to court. Occasionally one does not show up, but it is very rare. So if you fight it, I would not expect to get off because of the cop not showing up.

And funny, but I've always found LAPD West Traffic Division officers to be exceedingly patient and honest. Maybe not the nicest guys around, but then thats not required is it.

Luckily you didnt get the speeding ticket. The only advice that I can give you is to reschedule your court date. From what friends that have got other tickets (speeding) told me, they rescheduled their court date so the cop, hopefully, wouldnt be able to attend the date. Usually, highway patrol like to schedule all their courts dates in one time to make one trip to the court. However, if you reschedule it, you might luck out and catch a date that the cop cant make it. And if the cop doesnt show up the ticket should be dropped. A friend of mine said it worked for them.

As I indicated, thats a tactic that normally won't work with LAPD(or Long Beach PD for that matter). Since Rashmans ticket was on streets(as indicated by the speed), it was probably LAPD. Of course, CHP does do DUI operations on Sunset, but normally that is over in Hollywood.

 

One more thing,

City of Los Angeles assigns a city attorney to handle these things should you choose to challenge it. Its not that you can't beat it, I beat one in Long Beach that had a prosecutor and cop present, its just one more thing adding to an uphill climb.

Maybe traffic school?

 

From what I learned in traffic school, if you ask an officer to show you the read out from the radar and they don't then legally he can't charge you with speeding. That is probably why he didn't write you a speeding ticket and became angry with you. Your best bet is to go into court and plead your case. it will be your word angainst his. Keep your cool and let the judge decide. If your polite and don't sound crass the judge might go your way.

Oh I see... yea.. the friend of mine that actually did it and got away with it got a speeding ticket on the freeway and she was lucky enough to have the cop not show up... thanks for letting me know.. now i know better...

I don't know if you already took care of your ticket..

Pretty much the easiest thing to do if you don't have the free time to go to court is to just pay the fine and attend traffic school assuming you haven't done TS in the past 18 months..

If you can go to court its usually not gonna hurt you.. you might get lucky and the officer will not be there in which case you wont have to do a thing and your ticket will be automatically waived.. nice!

if the officer does show up you will have to ask for traffic school immediately if you are able to attend(not done in past 18 months.).. if you don't ask for it prior to the "trial" the judge has the discretion to NOT allow you to do traffic school.. kinda like if you know you are wrong admit it and take the TS now.. cause from what I've seen the judge is typically gonna say DENIED! if you try to beat the ticket then ask after he finds you guilty..

Another thing.. just going in and fighting the cop is not really that easy.. typically the officers have written and testified in tons of these things and sound/look very professional.. all you do is bring laughs to the courtroom if you simply present your case as "that cop is lying! i know i used my signal"...

Another thing a cop may not be using radar to write you up for speeding and therefore just because they wont show you the radar you CAN still get a ticket for it.. It may be easier for you to beat in court, but estimation is all a cop has to do to sign you up for speeding..

Ok so here is the deal. I fought the ticket. Bastard cop shows up so i plead not guilty but with contest.
I say at first he pulled me over for speeding then gave me a ticket for no speeding but tickets me for unsafe lane change and also not usning my signal. The judge goes to the 2 officers and says is this true. They say Yes

So Then the judge asks the officers if they remember me, One says yes the others says no. SO no i have 1 cop down and the other one left.

He asks the cop thats left, how fast was he going? He said 55 in a 35 which is BS becuase on the ticket he wrote aproximate speed 40 in 35. So then i bring up the fact i wanted to see his radar and then brought me back the tickets for fixing my plates, car too low, no proof of insurance, tinted windows. All of these being fix it tickets, and then on top of it the 2 citations for unsafe lane change and not using my signal. I dont know why he gave me a ticket for my car being to low, it is stock. Damn idiot

So The judge goes to the cop and says is this true the officer says yes, they judge says ok case ruled in favor of me.

So i WIN. The judge also throws out the tint tickets becuase i had a doctors note, and the drop ticket becuase my car is stock.
Afterwards the dick cop comes to me and says i thought after the way i treated you, would be scared to come and fight. I can give a shyt. F*ck him and his partner, just picking on me becuase i drive a nicer car than them.
SO instead of taking traffic school and paying for a 450 dollar ticket i end up paying 100 bucks for the court fees and fix it tickets.
Always fight the ticket. You have nothing to loose.

First you post that Miller gave you a price on a coupe that is less than invoice.....and now this?

Without going into how you got to fight a ticket in open court within an astounding two weeks........

There is no way your story happened as you stated.

And if by some miniscule chance it did, you should file a complaint against these officers so that they do not do it to anyone else. In fact, if you were to provide me the name and serial numbers of these officers(should be on the ticket) I HAVE to report them.
