Congrats to TYGWOFN

Albert's a modest guy, but he just got elected to the Rowland Heights Unified School District Board....believe me when I tell you he's been thru hell the last few months. It was not a "nice" campaign!

From the SGVTribune

Chang, Gallegos win Rowland Heights race
By Diana Roemer

ROWLAND HEIGHTS -- Candidates Albert Chang and Heidi Gallegos defeated Anna L. Hartley, Robert Lewis and David Bassett to win seats on the Rowland Heights Unified School District Board of Education. None were incumbents.

The first order of business for Chang will be mending fences following a bitter campaign. The election has gotten pretty nasty,'' Chang said.

Chang said he taken aback by character attacks and misrepresentation of his positions. There really needs to be a time where I sit down with people and say, ÔYou know what? Like it or not, I'm a board member now, so let's work together.' '' He said one of the things he has been thinking about more is reaching out to the business community.

We have so much business, what with Industry running through the district, we could tie in an education theme, student hires, student training, things like that,'' Chang said. Gallegos thanked voters for showing confidence in her and said her involvement in the community and her love of children propelled her to victory. I am looking forward to working with fellow board members on school safety, that was part of my platform,'' Gallegos.

Candidates said declining enrollment, better campus security and changing a perception that the district is inferior topped their agenda. Seats were open after former board member Roger Hernandez was elected to the West Covina City Council in March and board member Gloria Burt decided not to seek re-election.
