Full speed for 100 Miles - interested?

Have you ever looked down that long, straight, empty highway and wished you could run flat out without getting a ticket?

Well, now you can! Open Road Rallying is 83 to 100 miles of sweet, open road, all to yourself, where you and your machine can go as fast as you choose, LEGALLY!

Nearly any type of vehicle is permitted, from street machines to pure racecars, and we have rally speed brackets for every type of car and driver, from 95 mph to 170 mph! Our events are approved by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and are conducted on closed Nevada highways. Nobody is on the course except the participants. We protect your safety with comprehensive safety rules and large staff of professional personnel.

So, how “fast” is fast? Well, the record AVERAGE speed for the 83-mile PonyExpress course on highway 305 is over 194 MPH! Our fastest rallyers have been clocked in the speed traps at over 220 MPH! But for you, “fast” may mean a smooth cruise at 95 mph, an exciting pass at 120 mph, or an adrenaline-pumping blast at 150 mph!

The great thing is, it’s your choice!! Our race weekends are fun-filled days of fast cars, great people, and, most of all, speed!! Not just short bursts of speed, but 100 MILES of speed!! For auto enthusiasts who love DRIVING their cars instead of just POLISHING them, it simply doesn't get any better than this!

This will run you around $1000 total....anybody interested? I'm going to post this here to begin building a team for the Pony Express, June 24-27, 2004 @ Battle Mountain Nevada

The fees I have calculated above would include your course fees, training, co-driver, hotel and air ambulance. transportation to and from is not included, but if we get a big enough group together, we could perhap rent a trailer and fly into Reno. With 2 or 3 others, we will work out the info in the forum. If nobody is interested, well then I guess I'm on my own...(now's the time to try out that Aero Kit you got with your G!)

Cheers, Ted

Damn! That sounds fun and scary at the same time. 194mph average speeds WOW!!! I don't know if I would have the b@1!$ to go that fast for a consistent lenght of time. 1K for fees does that include funeral cost just incase something goes ......nevermind.

Man, that sounds like so much fun! The only thing I'am not liking is the 2 lane road. And how many cars run at once? I should read the manual.

Dont worrie Glennp, your "G" is limited to about 145-152 depending on your model.
It souns like fun Ted, but a thousand dollars is kind of steep for like a half hour ride, but I like the legal aspect of it. Although doing "the thing" for a few minutes was a great experience

Well, it isn't 100 miles long. But its free -- if you don't get caught. Go to Death Valley. There are miles and miles of roads, all 2 lane, most are straight for miles so you can see for a very long way. Virtually no other cars, ergo no speed limit. I had my 530i BMW with Valentine Radar and just went as fast as I dared. Well over 120 at times. Loved it !
Would have been more fun in the g35.

They have the same thing in Montana. Folks race all kinds of cars (Ferrari to Lambs). I think that race is longer than 100 miles.

The guy who installed my clearbra actually had a guy come in with his brand new Corvette Z1 and had the whole thing covered with clearbra material. After the race, he brought it back and had the clearbra removed, then sold the car.

Re: Full speed for 100 Miles - interested?

I am in negotiations with the wife... I probable can't make the Pony express in June, but am seriously considering the Gamblers run in August (found info at the website mentioned above).

This sounds like fun. With out more safety equipment, it sounds like the fastest group we could run in is the 110 average group with a tech speed of 124. Has does anyone actually have experience will one of these runs?

Wow....
Time to go to Technosquare and get the speed limiter removed could you imagine if a pebble hit your car at those speeds?! Sounds like fun...

Sounds fun, but not for $1000.00. That's a little steep.

I can fly to New York round trip, take a ride with a cabbie for $5.00 and get crap scared out of me for that much!

Re: Full speed for 100 Miles - interested?

I came up with a price of $590 for everything (including bring a rookie discount and acting as a course worker discount). I think the $1000 fee included the price for both divisions added together(?). I would be entering the Touring Divison. In the "All Other" Division you need 5 or 6 point harnesses and other improved safety equipment...

If you take out the Charity run, Top Speed certificate and Practice Runs you're down to $440.

Hmmm... I think it's time for a new chip!
