I'm just wondering if anyone is having the same problem that I'm having. My registration renewal was in Dec for my 04 tags. I have always used Auto Club, with all 3 of my vehicles, however, I got caught up in that Davis-Triple thing. Back in Nov, Ahhnuld changed it back. Because of this, I sent my renewal, by mail, back in Nov with the adjusted charge.
To make a long story short, my coupe is currently showing expired tags, Dec 03. My wife tried numerous times, last Friday to call the DMV, just to find a busy tone all day long. I sent an email, but it is computer generated, and it could not answer my question about my new tags.
I believe I'm in week number 8 or 9 now without my new tags. My main concern is getting pulled over, and then have that escalate to tinted windows and no front plate. I have seen others on the road, even with Nov 03 tags.
I don't know what else to do. Any comments, or suggestions, would be appreciated.

How do you know what the adjusted price is on your renewal. Take your old registration to the DMV and get it fixed ASAP. If a cop pulls you over and wants to be a d ick about it then.... he can impound your vehicle for up to 30 days and you have to pay the impound fees... go to the DMV.

If you have AAA, I believe you can still go to AAA and find out the status of your renewal.

Well, if you remember, it was announced that everyone caught up in this $hit, was to divide their premiums by 3, and the DMV would be satisfied with it. My wife tells me that the check "cleared" a long a$$ time ago. I do understand that the law enforcement agencies have a "grace" period on renewals, but I don't know for how long. Like I said, everyday the mail is delivered, but no tags. It's panic time. I guess I need to hit up AAA.

The DMV website www.dmv.ca.gov has a calculator that tells you what you should pay. I tend to procrastinate, wait to the last minute, then pay it online through the website with a credit card. I received my tags in less than 2 weeks.

Thanks ryoken. Been there done that. Today is Tuesday, and still no tags. Because my check has cleared, I'm thinking that I am OK, in their system, in the event a cop should run my plates. If I can get through to Friday without any hassles, I will check my status with the Auto Club. That'll be the next chance I get.
I had a co-worker suggest that I should remove my rear plate and put my "new car" pouch back on the inside windshield. He said the G looks as good as new, but I told him that his idea might create more problems than I want to deal with right now.
