The area that he is talking about is the plastic cubby area where the jack, and the tolls are stored. If you are to look down into the trunk, there is the jack, then the bar with the hook for the jack,...then directly above it there is this 6" X 4" opening in the plastic. Looks like an upside-down "V" in the plastic holder. That opening looks like there is supposed to be cover and I dont think that my 03 has that hole there to my memory.
Does that help a little in regards to the description??

The jack goes in that panel in the left sidewall. You can see the tip of the jack sticking out in that second picture I posted. There's no room for tools in there. The tools go inside the spare tire.
Unless, of course, you're talking about a coupe and didn't mention that fact. I haven't looked in the trunk of a coupe to see how it would be different from my sedan.
