New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

Hey guy,

DaveO has suggested the below about the next meet! What do you guyz think?

"Eddie,

As I mentioned to you yesterday, I think you guys doing a great job coordinating these giant meets... especially for those who want to visit for a short while and get on with the cruising. My hat's off to anyone who can keep 50+ cars together and not end up with major problems.

Since I usually get a 200+ mile cruise in traveling to and from the meets, I've attended some of the past meets for different reasons. My goals have been to "meet" people firsthand, to checkout other G35 modifications and to hear/learn/discuss how the mods have worked out.

IMO, the meets I've attended have been loosely structured (not a totally bad thing unless uncontrollable) and somewhat "cliquish" (maybe the hazard of being a old fart on the outside). In my experience, the larger the group, the more these issues tend to expand. You've mentioned trying to get club sponsors... How do you think they'd react to burnouts in restaurant parking lots? Without some structure, including reasonable rules of conduct, disclaimers/waivers and meet agendas the club officers as well as members could be open to major problems.

A suggestion, starting with the March meet. Provide an agenda, initial rules of conduct (no drugs, booze, congested area speeding, burnouts, etc.) and a "hold harmless" waiver sign-up sheet for everyone to sign. As part of the agenda, offer breakout discussion groups headed up by facilitators. Topics could include drive train power mods, suspension mods, sound system upgrades, detailing, etc. Those who are only interested in the cruise, the agenda could provide a firm starting time. Those in the breakout groups could start when they're finished. This would mean more, but smaller, cruise groups (not a totally bad thing). "

Also, I am setting it up with Performance NIssan to have it there. Thats all the update i can give you as of right now. We are trying to work out details of perhaps having sponsors there and showing off their products! I will keep you guyz posted!

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

LOL.. now who's enthusiastic.. I'd love workshops and discussions. There's so much to learn about my g.
The last big meet I went to they had a workshop day for whoever wanted, a few photo-op cruises (with professional photographers), etc. Of course, this was a 3 day meet.

Ed

I think that this is a fair request and probably a necessary one as the group turns into a fortified club. To get more sponsors to align with us, the club needs an attractive reputation for them.

I too would like to see more information. Maybe some of our members would like to share their mods with other; why they did what they did and how. It would be great to see prospective sponsors offer their locations for some club meets in exchange for exclusive PR time with our members (read Stillen Nissan day a few months back).

It would be great to get Nissan NA involved, maybe joining with the 350 Z groups and have Nissan HQ as our meeting place.

Either way it goes, you guys always put in a lot of effort, so my hat goes off to you!!!

Mike.

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

a huge G+Z meet? that would be sweet.. Mr.&Mrs. Twisted over on My350Z.com have that sweet Twisted Z..
(taken at the Zmeet in Torrance)

and they're working on another one..Mr Twisted is the head of a Z club..I met him, talked with him and his wife, and I still don't remember their names.

We could really get some ideas from Z people, and find out just how different (or similar) Zs and Gs are from an aftermarket standpoint.

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

i remember that at the december meet, socalted made these information sheets with all the mods and upgrades that he has made to his G, and included his contact info. i think thats a good idea. of course some folks will have a much more extensive info sheet than others. for example, mine would have about 3 lines on it. window tint, air freshener, no infiniti letters in the back. you get the point...

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

Ms. Nimnix,

You are truely new in the G community. Let me tell you a story about Mr. Twisted. This was back last year in one of the G clubs biggest meet. This guy posted a thread in my350z.com and called everyone at the meet "a strange buch of people....." and then he continued on that "they (the g people) drooled all over the Z peoples cars" that attended the meet. This from a guy who said that he was going to convert his trunk into some sort of "gun rack". Apparently, Mr. Twisted (a.k.a. Mr. Miagi on crack) owns a gun shop this is the reason why he wanted to alter the look of his Z. And to think he called us strange go figure. He did apologize I'll give him that, but the damage was already done. He not only got flamed here in this forum but in the 350z forum as well. Now I'm sorry, but anything that man tries to organize (G+Z meet) this is one G owner that won't be attending. By the looks of that picture you posted he added another "tucky" looking device on his ride. Vertical doors? ewwwwww!!!!

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

The person that organized this meet was Lysa, and she's very friendly. And there's the women (and men) on the Zchickz board. Regardless of the one or two people who think their **** don't stink, a G+Z meet would be good. Though maybe some of the rules should be "no disrespect, act like an adult, if you can afford this car you can afford to be nice"..

I'm new to the G/Z scene, not as new to the enthusiast scene. The last meet I went to was a BMW meet, and if you want to see arrogant people, go to a meet where magazine photographers are. Some were friendly, some were petty, but through the whole thing there was this sense of "there's a minimum style requirement to hang with us". At the same time, they were generous, helpful, and friendly.

There are always people who attend these to show off and dis others, especially with a meet like this.

btw.. I like the Twisted Z.. it's a great show car. You can really see just how mod-friendly these cars are with a car like that. All the mods flow together well. But I'd never do that stuff to my car (just buy the Lambo at that point, it costs the same). It's not something you can drive around in really. But it's way better than a beat up POS with shiny new chrome wheels and body kits that are so new they haven't been painted yet.

I don't think that 'Vertical' doors are handicap person friendly either. Unless if this guy is parking his 'Z' illegally.

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

It's his wife's car, she's got some kind of knee condition (also why the car is automatic and not manual).

She seems to have no problem with the doors, but those things looked a little difficult to manage, especially if you're going to be getting in and out of it a lot and driving it everywhere.

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

Ed, I'm down with all that was suggested in the original post. I've also read some posts about some other meets were they did some simpler mods at the meet so people could learn how to do them. (Maybe making the corner light flash with the turn signal might be a good one for this.)

As for the Z/G thing. I like having Z's at the meet. Please let's let the the whole Mister Twisted thing go. He's just one guy, he does represent all the Z owners out there. Two Z's showed up at our last meet and those guys where totally cool. The more the merrier.

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

I meant MR. Twisted doesn't represent all the Z owners...(It wouldn't let me edit my last post. grr)

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

Maybe it is the drinking that I have done tonight, but I cannot follow the reasoning in this thread. To get us back on topic, I would say that from my personal POV, some organization would make me more likely to attend a big (or small for that matter) meet. I think at the least we should have a roster with car information sheets (optional) and waivers (mandatory). I would actually expect something like that...

Someone could compile and post the information sheets on the this forum as well so that we could match cars/faces/names. I would even volunteer

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

I'm all for structure. You get more out of it that way. If I'm gonna drive al the way from SD I want to do a little more than look at Gs in diffeent colors with different wheels, mods.... I can do that right here on the forums. So is it set in stone for the 20th?

Re: New PLANS? for GIGANTIC MEET!

It sure is. I am trying guys!!! Give me a few more meets and the meets will run like clock work! I know the last meet wasn't the greatetst meets because of the chaos but that was just a test meet that i planned!

I am trying new things as you can tell so please bear with me!

20th is very much set in stone! Will start up a sign up sheet VERY soon! Sorry busy these days!

Any other suggestions beside DAVEOs??

Who would want to take a section at the meet? For example a Wheel expert, a performance expert, a coupe expert..... Ppl like that! Thanks

Ed
