[Hawaii]Goodbye Infiniti Hawaii

March is almost here gang. Dave and I were talking about a small little get together with the Infiniti crew. By now, everyone should, or may not, know of Charlie Kings recent purchase of Infiniti Hawaii.

So, what we suggest is a day of FUN. Since ALL of us purchased our cars from the only Infiniti on the island, we are thinking of a small little cruise and/or picnic, preferably on a Sunday, before the take over on March 31st. We'd like to hear a few suggestions from other members with ideas. This is to Thank all the Infiniti employees who helped us with the purchase of our cars and also, for their generosity with donating and contributing to "G35 Hawaii".

Attn: ALL LURKERS, PLEASE POST!! YOUR IDEAS ARE NEEDED!!

Preferred dates:
March 21 or 28
This gives us a month to plan and prepare. Although, Spring Break will be sometime during that week or next.

So please kokua!!

Aloha,
Drew

I'm always up for a cruise [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img] Either day is fine for me. Let me know if you need help planning. I think Spring Break is around the last full week in March.

What does this mean with the new owner switch? Will this affect service, sales or anything significant?

Mr. King is the owner of King Windward Nissan. As for changes? I can only hope for positive things like after market upgrades (NISMO) with dealership warranty, like Grubbs or some of the other private dealerships. We just have to wait.

Awww yeah...I remember that exact spot. Very fond memories there...heheh. Very nice pic. I took my G for a spin up there the day after I bought it.

Have spoken with mdnt and been thinking that a picnic in town side would be better to start off the day. Perhaps in Kakaako park. There are BBQ pits there, ample parking and maybe more people are prone to coming because of the location versus out in the country.

After that we can all go for a drive and end it with meeting back at Infiniti or something.

Looking at a time frame of about 12-2 for lunch,....230-430 for the cruise. 500-530 as maybe a small get together and perhaps a presentation to Steve, the staff, Charlie King, and Nissan.

Thoughts??? BTW,..looks like we will need to meet this coming Sun at Infiniti say 11:00A.

Re: [Hawaii]Goodbye Infiniti Hawaii

Ok gang. Update on the info. I spoke with Steve, GM at Infiniti yesterday, and hes says, "Go" for the picnic. I have already spoken to him about it and he likes the idea. Although, date is set....March 21st. The 28th is kinda hard due to new ownership transfer that week and prior engagements the night before. So it was agreed upon myself, Cheryl, and Steve that the 21st would be better.

Also, the picnic spot has been chosen. Kualoa park has ample parking and an abundance of picnicing areas. A permit will be needed for this.

It was also agreed that Infiniti invite ALL prior and new "Infiniti owners" and not just the "G" group. We thought it would be out of fairness to others. Strictly Infiniti owners!!!

This will be a "potluck/bbq" event. We will probably need help with coordinating, setting up, and other things that will be needed. Im not sure what Infiniti has in mind, but I will speak with Steve tomorrow with what he wants at this picnic.
Everything is pretty much set. Just need to make a few phone calls as far as rentals of tents, chairs, and tables. Looking for a few gas grills or hibachis.

Other than that, please bring what you need for a day of FUN!

Re: [Hawaii]Goodbye Infiniti Hawaii

how will this affect pricing for the future? will there still be no dealer markup (just like how infiniti of hawaii was)? I am very interested in the results because i am planning on purchasing a 04 coupe around june or july. I really hope the pricing will stay the same and the service will be equal or better to the current standard.

Re: [Hawaii]Goodbye Infiniti Hawaii

I dont know if anyone knows that answer at this point in time to be honest. The new owners have not yet taken possession (I think) and thus the new regime has not yet started. The service side should be on par at the very least as what it is currently.

Purchasing in June or July? If I may ask, why the delay? If you get it in June, I believe that that is the fiscal year end for the dealers though. Any of the salespeople at Infiniti are really cool people to work and "play" with. Happy bunch in general.

We will be looking forward to seeing you in your new coupe soon then.

Take care.

Re: [Hawaii]Goodbye Infiniti Hawaii

right now im still going to school up in SF and i'm graduating in may. I don't know if there will be a black 04 MT with premium package and graphite int. on the lot when i get back to hawaii. I'm looking for any advice on what to expect when purchasing the car. This is also my first new car purchase, and even though i've bought used cars before i figure its not the same.

Anyhow, what's everyone's opinion on when i should get the car? it would be nice to pay the lowest price possible (doesnt matter what year the car is, as long as its new). I know that during christmas/new years time there's deals and stuff but i don't know if i want to wait a whole 6 more months after i graduate. I was also wondering if i wait for the 05's, will they be more expensive than an 04 at an end of the year sale? i don't really understand how infiniti's pricing works (aside from the note that there's no dealer markup)

Also, i will be paying for the car and insurance myself so i don't want anyone saying how my mom and dad are doing it for me. i just need some advice and i'd be greatful if anyone could give me any type of heads up.

Re: [Hawaii]Goodbye Infiniti Hawaii

Well, I heard that the new dealer may markup $3k. But you never really know until they take over. Also, I don't know what the demand is for the particular model you're interested in, but if it's something you're really set on, I would pre-order it so you're guaranteed delivery when you come home. They didn't really markup the '04s from the '03s. But there is talk of an interior change in the '05s so that may affect price slightly. Good luck! [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]
