Hawaii: first drags with the G!

i finally took my car out to the track a couple of nights ago. my R/T wasn't all that great at 0.577, but i think i ran a decent 14.89. does that sound right? i think it could be faster, haven't got that many mods yet, just a z-tube and blitz drop-in and GroundingGear ground kit. my tire pressure in the rear was at 15psi and the tires are s-03's. i was launching at 3k, but i think i was givin' it waaaaaaay too much power on the take off.....the tires wouldn't grip so well until after 1st. any suggestions? thanks!

Dont have to rev up your rpm at all to say the least. You have a lot of torque which will make your tires spin off the line. Dont forget to turn off that VDC. Well for most of the time, I know that VDC kicks in once your tires gain an unexpected amount of wheel spin.

just fyi, a perfect reaction time is .500 ...

I ran a 14.7 in my friends completely stock G the first time I drove it. So with some practice launching, you should get your time down, ... especially with those S03's!

NO NO 3000 RPM is TOO HIGH. Next time keep it between 2000 to 2500. That is ideal. I did what you did the first time around 3000 and peeled out like crazy keep it to 2000 to 2500. But thats a good time 14.89. The reaction time is even better. Your ET doesnt start until you cross the start line. The Reaction time is how fast you passed the starting line when the light turned green,

I forgot to mention, that RT is pretty good, yet, your RT will not determine your ET. 14.8 is a pretty good run. My old sedan did 14.7...5AT, injen intake.

Re: Hawaii: first drags with the G!

i thought 3k was a little too high....i was givin' it waaaaaaaaay too much power off the line too.....i was always wonderin' why the s-03's weren't grippin'! well, i'll try 2k to 2.5k next time. as a matter of fact, i wouldn't be surprised that that's what i was at when i did the run of 14.89. oh, and the r/t, yeah, i guess that was pretty good, thanks! but i lack consistency. hopefully with a little practice on the G, i'll get used to it. i was pretty consistent with my old integra, but front wheel and rear wheel, and just the difference characteristics of the car made quite a difference. just gotta get used to it i guess. thanks all!

lol Koz!! I thought you knew it was me. Yes, thats me...cbr600rr. Anyways, the sedan was a fun car. After hitting consistent low 15's with the 20's on, I replaced it with the stocks and dipped into the high 14's, isnt that right Nogoslow?

Just out of curiosity...is the track in Hawaii at sea level? I'm saying because judging by your 60ft, it seems as if your times should be lower. I went to Palmdale in California and I got a 15.0 which is around 14.5 corrected and that was with a 2.4xx 60ft. Man do I have to work on my launch...good thing im going today.
