Well, looks like I'll actually be going on March 30th. The 29th is only open to those with 2002 cards, and they aren't selling 2003 cards on Saturday, only on Sunday.

Re: SOLO2 - San Diego

It's a race, but it's for everybody. All you need is a car in good condition and a driver's license, and a Snell-rated helmet (Snell 90 or better, currently). I don't know about your area, but in San Diego, it costs $30 to get a number for your car (which is good for a year) and $35 to race for the day. You get 3 runs with your class, then time permitting there are fun runs at the end of the day for $1-2/run. Free loaner helmets are usually available. Free instructors are also available for Novices. It's pretty safe, as you're only racing against the clock and the cones.

There's also the option to join SCCA ($90 for my region, maybe less for yours) and get discounts on the car number ($20) and race fees ($20/day). It takes about 5 race days to break even going that route. They try to hold races about once a month.

Fees may vary, depending on your local autocross clubs.

Here's a thread where it's also discussed: SCCA

Pesti, I think www.calclub.com runs Solo2 closer to you.

Can I come just to watch? Or is there a fee for admittance?

Aha.. resurrecting an old thread, are we?

Spectating is free, you'll just have to sign an insurance waiver on your way in. I usually try to run "X" (extra) runs after lunch -- they allow passengers on X runs and, time permitting, fun runs at the end of the day.

Next events at Qualcomm are Oct 5 and Oct 19. I'll be the only G35 Sedan there, as far as I know.
