I'd highly recommend bringing a cooler and fill it up w. all the goods. There is a snack/lunch bar there, but the usual 'high way robbery' price applies. No worries w. the extra luggage as they all go in the pit area once you get setup there.

... btw, have we all decided on a meeting location and to break first or not?

Re: *** Details on Track Day @ Willow Springs ***

OK guys.

So clint and i have been talking. Here is the deal. We definitly need to get a good meal before anything. So we decided to meet up at Denny's in Sylmar.

As for a couple of us we will be meeting in the SFV, then caravaning to Denny's.

We will meet up at Dennys at 6:00.

NO LATER PLEASE.

We will then leave Denny's at 6:30-6:45 and then go to Willow Springs.

The Address for Denny's in Sylmar is
12861 ENCINITAS AVE.
SYLMAR, CA
818-367-8777
Here is the map of Denny's

If anyone has any questions PM Clint or me.

As for the SFV meeting spot. That one still stands (map is posted in the other thread). We will meet at 5:30-5:45 then make our way to Denny's if you dont feel like meeting in Sherman Oaks (SFV meet) then just make you way to Denny's

Please let us know. Clint and I counted 6 cars. Thats including us.

Thanks guys and be safe.

Re: *** Details on Track Day @ Willow Springs ***

I shall hook up with you lads at Dennys in Sylmar just before six AM. I have two batteries and a fistful of tapes, and a tripod with a floating head so I can get some outside track pics of you all, in addition to some of the in car camera stuff. This will be good fun. Got the race wheels and rubber mounted now, and fresh oil and filter change. Ready to roll.

I have a torque wrench for the lugs if you need to check between sessions (always a good idea). You probably want some of that blue painter's masking tape (OSH has it) to mask over your headlight lenses to protect them from chips and rubber bits. I have some extra motor oil and brake fluid, and a brake bleeder kit if some one needs that too. And a helmet for Kawika.

Randy,
How's the car? Did you get the 'SES' resolved?

No, I did the 12 hour disconnect of both the +/- but that didn't work. Other members were suggesting that maybe I damage the O2 Sensors during the upgrade. Not sure how I could of but it seems to be the only possible cause to my newly found issue. Let me ask you a question, if I put too much oil in the car, could that cause the light to go on. What I mean is, while upgrading the cats and exhaust, I drained the 1500 mile old oil out and put in 5 quarts of 10/30w Syn Mobil 1....when I checked the dip stick after the refill I noticed that it was past the full line. Could this trigger the Service Engine Soon light? BTW, I did unscrew the oil filter and drain the old oil out but didn't change it cuz I just had my 7500 change 1500 miles ago and I couldn't find a place that was open on Sat to get a new one...

Re: *** Details on Track Day @ Willow Springs ***

got this from the track site: Clint has covered most of these things in his original thread but...

General Event Information:
Summary

1) Please get to the track by 7:00 am at the very latest.

2) The track may make you sign a waiver. Drive to the "Pits" area, which is marked on the map below.

3) Once you're in the pits, choose a pit location. The Pits area is labeled in the image below (East Paddock is where you're going to want to be).

4) Head on over to registration, bring your tech form (completed!), and get your participant materials. Remember to bring your passengers with you.

5) Unload car / trunk of all loose items (floormats included). No camera's, video recorders, etc. allowed unless they are properly secured. Finish any last minute technical inspection you may have to do.

6) Apply numbers to both sides of car (If you did not respond to the emails about car numbers, you've been assigned a car number. Go to registration. Your car number will be on your registration packet (though you should have already choosen your number online https://www.speedventures.net/car_num_login.asp ).

7) 7:25 - Driver's meeting. THIS IS MANDATORY, YOU MUST BE THERE ON TIME. PLEASE!!!

Details, Details

Registration will either be in the snack bar at WSIR, or in the vincinity, should the building not be open yet. We are asking everyone to come to registration before unloading their cars, so we can get the day moving and hopefully get on track by 8am.

The spot you choose will be "your" pit location for the day, and you'll return to it after every run session. You should then start unloading your car, taking *everything* out of it, and putting it in front of your car. There can be no loose items in your car at the track which might interfere with your driving, so this means everything from your floormats to radar detectors need to be out. You should also take anything of any weight out of your trunk, including your spare tire and any tools. Remember that anything in your trunk will be flying around in there on the track, and people have done incredible damage to their trunk panels/lid by leaving unsecured items in it. If your spare is very well secured, it's probably ok back there, but most people take them out anyway (why carry the weight?).

A little side note is that you're going to want to put something in front of your car that you can use as a "wheel chock". Many people use their spare for this. When you pull off the track after a session, your brakes are still going to be very hot. For this reason, you don't want to use your e-brake when you park your car, and you don't want to be on the brakes, but most people like to leave their car running for a little while to circulate the oil and cool it down. The only solution is to put something in front of the car to keep it from rolling away. Your spare is a good choice. I'll reiterate this because it's important: Whatever you decide to do, don't sit there with the brakes on (including e-brake) as it can warp your brake rotors.

Now, every first-timer is worried that their stuff is going to get ripped off if they just leave it there unattended, which I can understand. While we can't guarantee you that this won't happen, I haven't heard of it ever happening either. The best advice is merely to not bring anything to the track that's valuable unless you absolutely need to have it.

In any case, once you have your car unpacked, we need you to come to the track building, turn in your tech form, and get your run group sticker and wrist band. You should be at the building by 7:15 to do this, after which you can chat with your fellow hot lappers until the driver's meeting starts at 7:25.

The Driver's Meeting is mandatory for all participants, from instructors to first-timers. It will last about 25 minutes, at which point the Red Group (the most experienced/quickest drivers) will go out for their first session. The Yellow and White Groups will stay for further introduction to the track, etc.

Re: *** Details on Track Day @ Willow Springs ***

Ouch!
How much over are we talking about? Just a hair or by a good margin? If it were significantly over, you should let some out. It's not good for the crank to start stirring up the oil and introduce bubbles into the oil and others.

Yes, the O2 sensors are highly suspect. It is also very possible you may have severed the wires at the base while mounting/dismounting them. Also try disconnecting the two harnesses (down stream from the sensors) and reconnecting them ... making sure they 'click' in.

Good Luck,

Clint (THX723)

Trackers ... less than 24 hours now!

Just a few minor details ...

1. Got a helmet? (Must have one to drive or ride)
2. Bring completed Tech Form.
3. Get plenty of rest!

btw, I was able to get an extra helmet, so if anyone needs one ... let me know

I'll see you all at Denny's in Sylmar before 6:00am. The rest of you spectators ... I'll see you when I see you.

...Vroom vroom!!!
