Ripped off at Towbin Infiniti
Hello all,
I've been waiting about 6 months now since this has happened, and frankly I am fed up with being patient and giving them more time. Here is what happened:
I drove to Las Vegas through the dessert and my car was covered in dirt/sand. I noticed increased oil consumption and it was a minor concern to me, so I wanted to have it documented at the dealership along with another minor issue (don't remember exactly what).
As per my request, the dealer stated on the work order "no wash," unfortunately, they washed the car anyways, in one of those brush car washes, and when I came to pick up the G it was scratched up beyond belief - I have always hand washed it previously and the finish was perfect.
I spoke with Joseph Evans, the assistant service man manager of shop quality control, and he observed the damage, and confirmed that the damage was caused by the car wash and that it was indeed noted that the vehicle should not have been washed.
Apparently, the tech was having a bad day, and took it to the wash anyways.
Evans gave me the service director's contact info:
Michael Fotie, who then proceeded to work with me. Mike told me that they would send me a check for $200 to cover the cost of detailing to buff out all the swirl marks they had created.
I have waited 6 months and still I have not received anything. When I first called Mike, he said that payment has been authorized and that they would mail me a check. I called a few weeks later, and he said I should wait a little longer for the check to come. I waited about 3 more weeks and still no check.
I called him back and he said he would put a stop payment on the check, and issue a new one. I called a few weeks later and he said the new check went out and I should be receiving it soon. I waited for about another month, and still no check. I called him again and this time I told him to mail it to me with some kind of tracking information. He has now been ignoring my calls.
Any advice guys? I am being forced to go to small claims court over this...

You mean the one on W. Sahara and Jones?
Personally I pit that dealership right up there with Riverside Infiniti and W. Covina Nissan for service and non-shady people. However if they are not holding up their end I do believe you should pursue legal action. I would first make an attempt to go higher than the dealerships service dept for your compensation, do that and make at least one last face to face effort to claim your check.
As far as court goes, I think you should go for a new paint job instead of cash.

I personally would call Contact 13 on the news station....that will definitely get their attention. Or if you have a friend that has a Lawyer in the family. A phone call from him stating who he is would also be a good scare tactic.
bythabay, did you get this issue resolved?
Anybody know a good independent shop or a trusted mechanic here in Vegas? No dealership for me because the warranty is up and I want to take the G35 for an alignment because at 65mph on the freeway the steering wheel shakes/vibrates/agitates.
I don't think it is the rotors, but then again I haven't checked them lately.

Tell them to put you in touch with this guy:

If he isn't there then talk to the Blue Genie

Really though, small claims court will take more time and money than you think. Just keep calling and maybe even show up to the dealership one day, but call first and make sure the person you want to see is there. You really think $200 is enough to get the scratches out? Polishing isn't easy, plus you will want to put a good sealer and/or wax on it after polishing.
On second thought, call the dealership and tell them you made arrangements at a local detailer to have the scratches polished out. Arrange it so the dealership will receive the invoice from the detailer.
