I'm new to this forum and I just bought an 05 G35 coupe in October of this year from a private seller. The car now has nearly 55k miles and it was very clean when I bought it. The issues I am having now is the CD player won't work and it keeps giving me a CHECK DISC error but I will get an in-dash when tax return comes up. Besides that, the major issue I think is my clutch.
The issue I am having is every time I shift gears, it feels like the clutch grabs late so I think its slipping really bad. This just started to happen about last week but got worse yesterday.
Does anyone know of any performance shops around the Glendale/Phoenix area? Also I think I still have the powertrain warranty on the car but I'm not sure if the warranty will cover a clutch problem.

Warranty will not cover the clutch unless there is an actual problem with it.
Radio problem is common. Most do one of two things, either get their hands on a used unit from another member or local salvage yard, etc or they upgrade to an aftermarket stereo.
I use UMS Tuning over in north west Mesa for all my engine work. I also know a great guy up in Prescott who does awesome work for good prices.

I've had the radio/cd player problem as well but I got it replaced under warranty, will have to say ditto for the clutch problem as Tim said, and well for engine work and intensepower is also a good place for engine work and what not since intense did build a worlds fastest record holding G35 coupe
but we're in gilbert =/

I was going to go with aftermarket double din but with the clutch, its like every time i shift and hit the gas, it revs a little high then it catches. It does this with every gear. Even if I am cruising on the interstate in 6th gear, I can push the gas down a bit more and it will rev a little high then catch. I was going to go to infiniti today and get a price quote.
Well I called Infiniti and its going to cost $120 to do the diagnostic and I got a quote about a new clutch and clutch installation and it will cost $2200 so I hope its not the clutch entirely.
I went to the dealership today and the service rep said it was most definitely the clutch so I saved $120. He even told me that the clutch kit alone (not including installation) was over $1000 so instead I found a fidanza clutch kit for a little over $700 and I found a guy in my unit who can help me with the installation. Thanks everyone for your help.

Someone in my unit found a spec clutch for around $400 but it does not include a flywheel. What would be a better route to take? Should I resurface the flywheel or buy an entire clutch kit including the flywheel? I found a couple clutch kits including a flywheel online ranging from $500-$750. I found an ACT Heavy Duty for around $550 and a Fidanza carbon-kevlar for $700. Does anyone have any suggestions or can help me find a place or website for a good clutch kit for a good price?
Personally Id do a JWT(Jim Wolf) H/d clutch/flywheel combo priced at $700-800 thats the route im going when its time for my clutch replacement. A friend of mine went that route and he pretty much races his vq.
That Fidanza sounds good but never heard anyone specifically saying they tried that one.
A friend of mine had an aftermarket warranty and if you do, get to dealership or repair place before they claim abuse/standard wear which is not covered.
Anything aftermarket on my ride means Ive only went to Intense Motorsports. If I hadnt already had the relationship with them on my ride, Tony at UMS is the place to go.
His tuning Ive heard is one of the best in the valley, just look at "ttranks" g.
Good luck man.

Well my plan is to keep the car for about 3-4 maybe 5 years and then I want to trade it in to get a G37 but then again, anything can change. Right now I just use it as a daily driver and don't need to do anything too crazy with it..yet. Right now I just need a good clutch thats really durable and reliable. My co-worker asked me to find out if I should get the flywheel resurfaced once I get a new clutch or should I just get a new clutch kit w/flywheel. Any more suggestions?

I do agree with Ron on this one. I have a TT G35 and I have the JWT kit. I drift my car pretty hard and this clutch has held up. When I get the cash I may go exedy. I do like the RPS flywheels but if you are going to go for a set, the JWT will do the job.
I had a JWT clutch and Unorthodox flywheel before I went to a multi-plate clutch. I was very happy with the combo. A little chatter but not bad and any single piece flywheel will make a bit of noise. Well worth the performance gains and cost savings.
