Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

For Shizzle, I'm in!!!
Ok I also thought of a location on the way along side the fore mentioned locations, it can be part of the route plan, it has grips of twists and turn. Dude, what not better then going through Santa Monica coastal line PCH (Long Straight aways) heading towards the Valley on Topanga Canyon (Major twists and turns) , and for all those of y'all who live in OC, y'all can take 101 to 405 Back.

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

Last weekend I drove from Santa Monice to Malibu on PCH, nice drive. That sounds good, but I wonder if the OC ppl would show up. Any opinions OC'ers?

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

I think this is a good question to address. I know that during the planning of the previous meet there was a failed attempt to bring together everyone from the OC/LA/Torrance region.

Does anyone here have any suggestions on how we can successfully bring everyone together?

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

set up seperate caravans..one from OC, one from torrance, area. one from LA, etc., and then have the seperate caravans all meet in one centrailized meeting spot. Perhaps somewhere convenient for everyone where you can gather without getting the boot from cops.

I can suggest Tustin marketplace, that's where they have other car meets, also, I know a place in Long Beach as well as in huntington beach...

do any of you G drivers even mind if an e46 tagged along?

e46 has a great idea! I like that one! Caravans from each places and then meet somewhere and head out somewhere! Count me in on that!

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

I don’t see any problems with an e46 tagging along. The vibe I get from this group is that the more the merrier!

The caravan idea (in my opinion) brings up two issues:

1) Our meets have been a 2-to-3 hour event. I know that with the introduction of the drives it would have been extended an hour or two. With this new caravan idea, I am seeing the meets time being extended even longer. Is this group willing to commit to the longer meets?

2) With the initial gathering at three different locations (Torrance, LA, and OC), that would mean actually setting up three mini meets since there needs to be the agreement upon location, whose attending, and a person for each location to keep track of it. Will it just end up being a mess?

This is my two-cent on this topic. What do others think?

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

Anything sounds good for me... I'm in for 31st...
But can we for once move stuff little more north? What's up with OC and Torrance all the time? Maybe we can meet say in Torrance and drive up the PCH to Malibu or so... With nice weather that will be an awesome ride...
Imagine 20+ G's riding on PCH !!!

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

hmmm

1) For longer meets you would need a plan of what to do. For example, eat lunch and get to know others or have a simple BBQ. Also, having a photo shoot for everyone would also be cool.

2) The caravans are not meant to be a mini meet at all. It's entirely a suggestion and up to individuals in those regions if they hate to drive alone.

Let me add that this site is fairy new and still developing and growing as a community. I would like to see you guys grow and be able to organize successful meets. I lurk these forums and see that people only suggest meets and organize them poorly. The meet also turns out small since there is no main meet organizer. If one person can step up and prove to others they can organize a successful and meet, I believe the word would spread and more people will be consistent in coming out.

Although I drive a Bimmer, I'd like to help any way I could, I'm also involved in BMW, lancer, WRX, and this forum.

Also, I see the LA meet thread and it seems they are more geared toward Malibu type runs which are very far for OC people. I hate to see them seperate from other areas.
It's hard to keep everyone happy, but everyone will need to make an effort to come out if we all want this to work.

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

Well, this is nothing about planning to meet but i just saw crea's post on freshalloy about some people video taping while Skylines(Gs) are passing them. SO if anyone is good with a camera and is bringing a passenger, it would be cool to have a video of our drive! OR if not a passenger, a pod would do if it stays!

Just a suggestion!

Laterz,
Glin

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

We should definately forget about organizing mini-meets, and let ppl decide on their own if they would like to do that.

Maybe everyone can meet up at maybe a park, we could BBQ, take pics, and mingle for about 1-2 hours. Then everyone can leave from there together and drive up the coast.

I live in west LA, but don't really mind driving to OC or a little north if that's where the majority of ppl are from.

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

Let's decide on which city we are going to meet and then we can narrow in on an actual location.

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

I think the BBQ idea in the park is great, but my only concern is who is going to bring the food, drinks, and accessories. If we do a potluck, then everyone who says they are going to show needs to show with their food or else we might end up missing key items (example: no drinks or forks or maybe even meat!).

Re: OC/LA/Torrance Meet

IMO, I don't think it should be a BBQ considering no one really knows each other. I think we need to have a couple of meets first before we start relying on each other. Its probably better to meet somewhere like the Block in Orange that way we can just buy something to eat there, ie Krispy Kreme. I think we should come up with a consensus on how many miles people are actually willing to drive out to meets, seeing that the LA metropolitan area is so wide (Malibu "LA" vs. Irvine Spectrum "O.C." for example is almost 100 miles). As for myself, I don't wish to put on alot of miles just to drive out to a meet. I think in order to make this work we need to come up with a place to meet quickly (I would say by this Friday) and from there people can decide whether to attend.
