Brakes replace Already!
Brakes replace Already!
I've had my car 11 months and just had brake work completed. New Rotors and new brake pads... Turns out Infiniti has realized that the compound was too thin. They've come out with a new brake pads for the rear brakes. You'll know if you have a problem becuase the brakes squeak awefully loud!
I love my car..but I'm not happy about the early brake wear and tear! They say it's normal for the brakes to need work after about every 17, 18 thousand miles!!! That just seems insane!

Re: Brakes replace Already!
Try changing your front brakes at only 12,000 miles!
I was "IRATE" when I heard my brakes were down to 2mm.
Even with my "hard driving" my Acura Legend, TL, and Integra never had to have brakes changed. This is a high performance car and INFINITI should have HIGH PERFORMANCE brakes to last longer than 12,000 miles. I'm sure my rear brakes will go soon too and that loud squeeky noise is hella annoying...UGH love my G though!
I feel ya! =)

Re: Brakes replace Already!
EBC makes some pads that are better and don't give off all the brake dust...you should check into those next time you need to replace your pads...

Re: Brakes replace Already!
How much did it cost you, if you don't mind? My coupe's at 15,000 miles and I was told at my scheduled maintenance that my brakes are going. I'm starting to hear the squealing noise. The dealer quoted me the insane price of $400.00+ for pads and rotors. I'm pissed hearing that since I had just paid them $200.00 for the 15,000 mile scheduled maintenance. TIA
Re: Brakes replace Already!
The "and rotors" part bugs me. We shouldn't have to pay for new rotors at only 15k miles. Rotors are not supposed to wear out that quickly. It's a little premature for pads, but I can deal with that.

Re: Brakes replace Already!
I hear my rear brakes queeking now.
The dealer said the rear brakes were fine.
I'm due for a 15K service really soon and the "BRAKE DUST" is really pissing me off! Right after you detail it your rims get Phu***'d UP! If the dealer says, it's time to do the brakes, i'm going aftermarket...I'll worry about replacign it with stock brakes if I decide to return the lease...Hell I think I'll just keep the car I've done so much to this...Thanks for the tip!
GYA!

Re: Brakes replace Already!
These are brake pads, not drum brakes, all you gots to do is have the rotors machined at a NAPA near you for 10-20 dollars per rotor. We are talking two bolts to pull the calipers off! This is not hard to do. Stock replacement pads for the sedan are 105.00 all the way around and metal matrix replacement pads are around 90.00 all the way around. you can even machine the rotors yourself with a drill head sander or dremel
I am doing mine this weekend with the metal matrix pads and will post in the technical/mods forum about how it goes.
Check the link below for good info about your brakes
Look at this as far as the metal matrix pads go. Mike Kojima (VERY well
known Sentra SE-R racer) says the metal matrix pads are very good.
Mike Kojima from SE-R.net says, "For the money, I think it's pretty hard to
beat Axxiss Metal Matrix pads, if you are a Solo competitor, or just drive
hard. These pads last a long time, don't kill rotors, and are reasonable in
the cold (be careful at the first couple of morning stops!). These pads are
about ½ the price of carbon pads. They are even good for light use race
pads. Best off (for me!) they make very little dust, minimizing cleaning
chores."
