Compared to the midwest and east the weather today was great. A low of about 30f last night and high of about 45f. Clear, calm, sunny weather. Snoqualmie Summit, an honest hour's drive east of Seattle, has 37" base and dry packed powder conditions. Looks like it will be another perfect ski weekend. Snow in the mountains, mild temps down in the city, that's just one great thing about Seattle.
I'd be happy to give you some links to the local Seattle scene. The schools get mixed reviews. It really depends on where you live and if you're only considering public schools or looking at private schools as well.
Our Infiniti dealers are Infiniti of Kirkland and Infiniti of Fife. And guess what? They're owned by the same people. There's a dealership located in Portland, OR and one in Spokane, WA. The Portland dealer is about 3-1/2 hours away (180 miles) and the Spokane dealer is about 4 hours away (275 miles).
I moved here from New York City in '92 and think it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The quality of life is fantastic.
One word of warning, the price of houses are high compared to average incomes.

WA state school info
Seattle School Guide Provided by Seattle Times (local paper), links to public and private schools by name, location or district.
WA instituted standardized student testing in 98. Lots of wrangling (political and PTA) about the test but at least it will give you an idea of how kids are doing generally in a specific school district. Fair warning, science ratings are pretty dismal.
Here in the Puget Sound region we have basically 2 seasons...Dry (May to Sept) and Wet (Oct to Apr). We don't really get torrential downpours like other places get, it'll rain hard sometimes (got 5" in 12 hours at my house once) but usually it's a steady rain, all day (or for days) rather than thunderstorms or fast moving fronts.
