Re: Phoenix peeps: 9/12 at firebird?
I will try to make it out there. I just crossed over the 1200 mi mile marke on my 6 spd Coupe. It is bone stock, except for 20" wheels. It will be nice to see what it will do.
What car do you have? Mods? What were your times?

G35 Sedan 6MT (Sunroof is only option) Black/Graphite
times 14.45 at 98 is best, consistent 14.5's. I have learned alot about this car over the summer
those were with 2.3 60's, so I hope to fix that a lot. This car should be capable of 2.1's on a cool evening. That would mean I will be flirting with a 13.9 at 100 or so
mods: removed exhaust resonator, Magnaflow 14830 dual tip muffler (not on yet, should be tomorrow), K&N drop in, stripped trunk. total about 150 lbs lighter than stock
metal matrix brake pads
end of mods until I can afford tires and headers..

Re: Phoenix peeps: 9/12 at firebird?
Cool. Thanks for the info. Not too bad on the 60 foot times. That would be great if you could get down to the 2.0 sec range. Did you have wheel spin on your launch? I have 10.5" rears with 285/30/20's. Let's see if those hook up. After some mods I think I will probably get some Hoosier cheeter slicks. I realize this is not, nor never will be a "drag car". But is sure is fun! Keep in mind a Top Fuel dragster gose from
zero to sixty mph in 28 feet! More trivia...
Top Fuel Trivia
Top Fuel Dragster Trivia
One TF dragster's 500-inch Hemi makes more horsepower than the first 8 rows at the Daytona 500.
Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1 1/2 gallons of nitro per second, the same rate of fuel
consumption as a fully loaded 747 but with 4 times the energy volume.
A stock hemi will not produce enough power to drive the dragster's supercharger.
Even with nearly 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is
compressed into nearly-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock.
Dual magnetos apply 44 amps to each spark plug. This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder.
At stoichiometric (exact) 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture (for nitro), the flame front of nitromethane measures 7050
degrees F.
Nitromethane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning
hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases.
Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After ½ way, the engine is dieseling from
compression - plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1400 degrees F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting
the fuel flow.
If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in those cylinders and then explodes with a
force that can blow cylinder heads off the block in pieces or split the block in half.
To exceed 300 mph in 4.5 seconds dragsters must accelerate at an average of over 4G's. But in reaching 200
mph well before 1/2 track, launch acceleration is closer to 8G's.
If all the equipment is paid off, the crew worked for free, and for once NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run costs
$1000.00 per second.
Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have completed reading this sentence.
Top Fuel Engines turn ONLY 540 revolutions from light to light!
The redline is actually quite high at 9500rpm
The current TF dragster elapsed time record is 4.477 seconds for the quarter mile (06/02/01 Kenny Bernstein)
Putting all of this in perspective:
You are driving an average Lingenfelter powered "twin-turbo" Corvette. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel
dragster is staged and ready to launch down a quarter mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a
flying start, but you still run the 'Vette hard up through the gears and blast across the starting line and past the
dragster at an honest 200 mph. At this moment, the dragster launches and starts after you. You keep your foot
hard down, but you hear an incredibly brutal whine that sears your eardrums and within seconds the dragster
catches and passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter mile away from where you passed him. That,
folks, is acceleration.
Think about it, from a standing start, this phenomenal machine has spotted you 200mph and not only caught,
but nearly blasted you off the road when he passed you within a mere 1320 feet.
Now....., tell me about the time you spun the wheels and laid rubber on dry concrete.

Ohh yea I forgot. Top Fuel 60' time typically 0.870 to 0.900 sec. That's a friggin' launch!

No, this is not a drag car, but it is an excellent way to test mods and also to kill tires and clutches quicker so that I can upgrade them as well (grin)
Can we swap tires that night for a run or two? My next set of tires will probably be 255/45/17's on 17x8 superleggera rims.
I am VERY interested if the extra width will cause the engine to bog at higher speeds. BTW, yes I did have much, much wheel spin and wheel hop last time

Yea it should be a good night to race. Sorry, can't do the tire swap thing. If you are looking for wheels and tires check out the BF Goodrich drag radials.

Re: Phoenix peeps: 9/12 at firebird?
how about just to see the fit? I won't run em then. And I do understand not wanting someone to run your tires on the dragstrip. I wasn't planning on launching hard jsut seeing how they handle down the strip some.
by the way, as you know the G35 has a large amount of negative camber. this means as the car squats at the line the camber goes even more negative (good for handling, bad for drag racing).
Camber is a one bolt adjustment on the car, I plan to adjust that and make some runs after I do a couple of test runs with my new exhaust. should be pretting interesting what a few minutes of camber adjustment makes to the cars launch
