18" Volk SF challenges
18" Volk SF challenges
I am waiting for a set of the Volks to come in and was wondering, since alot of folks here have them, are they hub-centric or did you all who have them, need to use Hub-centric rings?
I didn't see anything specific on this when I searched, anyway I am going down from the 19" Maido's to the 18" which is closer to the stock wheels that were orig. on it.
reason is I can't stand the ride with that little of rubber between the rim and the ground, the 18"s that were on their orig. when I bought it was fine, but like everyone else I wanted something different.
Personal preference has made me change my mind on wheel size
plus I have heard the Sf-challenges are super light.
Thanks for any help on answering my questions
Tony
P.S yes I know everyone is doing

Strongly recommend use hubrings, matter of fact it should come with the wheels, incase if not get down your local auto parts store & pick them up.
Volks wheels are known as light weight wheels but,i don't know about Sf challenge being quoted as "super light". I had em on 19's there awesome wheels. Just like any 2 or 3 piece wheels as longs as you drive carefully, then you should be fine. Personally i think you should have gone with 19's & the ride quality is as good as 18's.

They can't be that light because:
1. They are 2 piece, 1piece is lighter than 2 piece in most configurations
2. The centers are cast, not forged, so they are heavier than a wheel with a forged center

well I know one thing after test fitting them on the car when I was adding the SS brake lines, they sure do feel alot lighter than the GR5's of-course I plan on weighing them with tires on to compare, but right now they are still boxed up as I am not in too much of a hurry to put them on,
hoping to find a buyer for the Maidos, to help offset paying for tires and balancing on the these.
