I've had my toyo T1R's since I bought my G about 15k miles ago. They are running great. Love the grip and feel. Pretty noisy. Will probably need to be changed in in about 5k more. Cant say anything about the Falkens though, since I dont have any experience with them..

I switched to a set of 452s after I changed rims. Previously I had T1Ss. The 452s are lightyears beyond the T1Ss but that's what you'd expect.

The 452s are exceptionally quiet and handle great. The new tread compound is supposed to wear much better than the previous compounds, but only time will tell. Overall I'm very happy with them so far.

I have heard these tires run small for their size. Can anyone confirm?

All the good things about the Toyos are quite surprising. C&D rated them very low in their performance tire test. No Falkens tested.
Maybe we just never drive out tires to the limits they do on these test, at least not daily.

What size tire and wheel?

The problem with the Falken's is that they don't come in 255/35/19, which I'd like to use on my front wheels.

20x8.5 20x10.5
245/35/20 fits perfect
275/35/20 tire is cut small. the lip of the wheel hangs out on each side .. i rec. 285 in the rear.. it is weird cause i had the exact sizes in the toyo and it fit perfect . but the falkens are not cut the same

Is it safe to run 225/35/19 front and 245/40/19 rear ((OEM 19s)) without VDC going nuts?

That's way off dude, maybe 235/35/19 front. I'm buying 245/35/19 F 245/40/19 R. I'm hoping it'll help with understeer, and the diameters match up to stock size.

Thanks IVRY. How does the tire weight compare? Like is it close to OEM?

I'm noticing that the 245/40/19 Falken 452s I have in the front seem to make the car less agile in steering feel and off the line acceleration vs the stock tires I had on there before...

Maybe I should post my story...Ive gone through 3 kinds of tires in 3 weeks and I'm still having issues

I just got back from Just Tires just a few mins ago and the 96.00 wheel alignment still hasn't fixed my car drifting to the right when I let go of the steering wheel. That's another story in itself

Glad I found this poll...though it is old & not much new info in here. I'm currently a happy T1-R owner and am contemplating the 452's for my next tire setup. Just found on www.1010tires.com that there are reviews given/ratings for each category (wear, dry handling, wet handling, noise, etc) and these 2 tires are very similar. I was SHOCKED that the 452's were much cheaper than the T1-R's in my size (245/40/19).

Here's the review/prices:

Toyo Proxes T1R
Summer
Ultra High Performance
Dry: 4.6 Wet: 4.4 Snow: 0 Handling: 4.2 Comfort: 4.3 Noise: 4.2 Treadwear: 3.9 186 reviews 4.3

Tire Size Speed Rating Load Rating Sidewall UTQG Per Tire
245/40ZR19 REINF Y 98 BW 280-AA-A $259.99

Falken FK-452
Summer
Ultra High Performance
Dry: 4.6 Wet: 4.3 Snow: 0 Handling: 4.5 Comfort: 4.3 Noise: 4 Treadwear: 4 88 reviews 4.3

Tire Size Speed Rating Load Rating Sidewall UTQG Per Tire
245/40ZR19 REINF Y 98 BW 300-AA-A $185.99

Onlinetires.com sells these 452's for even cheaper ($157)...damn, not bad....considering the crappy 17" OEM Turanza's are a little less than that, no?

i've ran T1R when i first got the TE-37TA and my only complaint was its noise....as noisy as General Exclaim UHP which i've used on my previous BMW...before purchasing a new set of tires, i drove my buddy's car and he was running on FK-452...much lesser noise and had great feeling....
handling wise....both have similar characteristics: handles well on both wet and dry conditions....but my buddy was able to struggle through the snow and his car was sitting on 19s, like mine....i didnt have the ***** lol! so i cannot give any input on T1R's snow performance lol
but from what i saw, my T1R had beefier sidewalls while his FK-452 had thinner but more rounded sidewalls...imo, FK-452 is great for VIP & fender-rubbing lovers while T1R suits the more conservative drivers...
these tires actually cater to different class of drivers so you just gotta know your personal preference before buying a new set of tires...
just fyi, in the end, i went with BF Goodrich T/A KDW lol!!!
hope this helps

I've been running 255/30/20 an 285/30/20 for a few weeks now. These are the quietest tires i've had in a long time. Great handling wet or dry. My Michelin Sport A/S got very loud at the end, but they lasted almost 30k. Hope these last at least 20k.
