Tire question!

To all tire and wheel Guru's. I am curently running 245,275/35-19 tires on my G. I want to go up in size to 245,275/40-19's for better ride quality. Is anyone runnig this set up? If not your opinion please.

Thanks, mykmar10

you may need to bring your suspension back to stock height (if your car is lowered) if you want to get 40-series tires. your speedometer will also be off if you run that size. why don't you just get the stock size 19-inch tires and wheels?

I have 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 wheels on the car now. The stock tires are not wide enough for the wheels.

What kind of tires are you running? i now have the same set up 245/275 35 19 on my g and it rides much smoother than the stock bridgestones... BTW i am running bf goodrich kdw nt vers 2. THat could be an issue. Every tire manufacturer has different tire sidewall support (stiff vs. soft) and it does effect ride quailty.
just my 2 cents.

I put more air in my tires and that made the ride a little better... went from 32psi to 36 or so IIRC... so try it out.

I got this from wheel/tire size calculator I use.

Tires: Tire 1 Tire 2
Tire size 245/45-18 275/40-19
Section width 245 mm (9.6'') 275 mm (10.8'')
Sidewall 110 mm (4.3'') 110 mm (4.3'')
Tire diameter 677 mm (26.7'') 703 mm (27.7'')
26 mm (3.8%) taller.
Rim sizes 18x7 to 18x9 19x8.5 to 19x10.5
Circumference 2126 mm (83.7'') 2207 mm (86.9'')
Revs per mile 757.1 729.1
Speedometer Assuming that this is OEM tire and speedometer readings are correct When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 62.3mph (100.3km/h): 3.8% faster.

I think you will be ok, but it's up to you to take the risk or not. The sidewall is exactly same as stock 18 inch tires, so you would get stock-like ride, I'm assuming.

If you want to play with different sizes, here is the link to calculator:

Thanks Rookie84. I've used a couple of tire size calculators also. I'm going with the 40 aspect ratio tires. I'll keep you guys posted.
