Toyo Proxes T1-R vs. BFG G-Force KDW TT
#16
I just mounted my new rims fitted with the BFG KDW2's. They are alot quiter than the OEM Potenza REO50A's. I have had 3 sets of the older KDW's on my bimmer. So, I decided not to go with the Toyo T1R's and give the newer KDW2's a try. I need to season the tires for a few more miles, but thus far, I am very pleased with my choice.

So I think I'm gonna go with the Toyos, because I'm looking for something that's a nice balance between performance & comfort. I don't do AutoX or anything like that, but if I did then I would probably get the BFG for the superior grip. But I suppose I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance for a smoother & quiter ride.
I would get the Gooyear GS-D3 which is actually my first choice, but $329 compared to $179 a tire is a no-brainer.

I've had the KDW2s for quite a few months. I switched to those when i moved to Florida back in Sep for their wet road capability. I had conti sport contacts before and those were louder. They stick to the road really well and after i installed the GT spec bars on my car, boy do they grip the road now. I currently have stillen headers and catback exhaust. Frankly i hear that more than the tire noise. If you are that concerned with tire noise, then dynamat your car and that will solve your issues. Dynamat your floor boards and door panels and tire noises will never be an issue again. The KDWs have a 300 thread wear rating and a depth of 10/32". Depending what size you are looking for, I have 245/35/19 and those set me back $215 a piece. Good price if you ask me.

15k+ miles on my toyos and im happy. they rarely break lose with minor power mods. i plan on doing springs and sways soon so we'll see if that helps. as far as the kdw's, im staying away because of the noise. i considered the nitto 555s but i dont want to go away from something im happy with.

P.S. Where did you find a price of $900 for a set of 4 of the DS-G3's in 19"? Was it online, or was it somewhere local?
