Re: Time for rotors and pads!
Went to the dealer to pick up the G. They showed the rotors
to me, man were they worn! The outermost edge of the rotors
were MUCH thicker that the portion where the pads touch.
The tech showed me with the measurement tool the thickness
of the worn portion. He mentioned the thickness they should
be, there were nowhere near the thickness he mentioned.
I do believe the pads ate those rotors for lunch, dinner and
then a midnight snack. Next time I will consider the Stillen
rotors. SSSHHH11111TTTT!

Re: Time for rotors and pads!
Why not believe the techs? Sure they may just wanna dick u outta some money, but then again they do have more knowledge and experience with our brakes than we do.
Keep in mind that these rotors on our cars are the "disposable" kind. Not many manufactures produces OEM rotors where the rim can be grinded down to be flush with the rest of the rotor. Believe the tech when it's your turn or else slide ur finger across the rotor from inside to out and feel if the outer rim of the rotor is much higher than rotor.

It's still a G thang!!

I asked the tech if he saw the same problems with the
Brembo brakes. He said he had not seen any such problem
with the Brembos. Looks like the Brembo is the way to go
if you are buying a new G35. The service advisor also admitted
that Infiniti needs to address this problem soon.

Don't remember the numbers he stated, but the difference
was like 5 mm or more. It was WAY off. As soon as I put my
fingers on those rotors and felt the difference between the
outer edge and the inside, I knew they were toast.

Re: Time for rotors and pads!
I stated the same to the service tech. He said, "they are high
performance brakes". Yeah, I know....but they should last
longer than 30,000 miles. Hell, my 1993 Altima rotors lasted
over 100,000 miles, BUT they wer not "high performance
brakes". Sheesh!

Yeah, I get similar mileage out of most rotors. I must say that the G stoppers are the best I've ever experienced period. Maybe this is the price we pay unless we go A/M.

Thats what I'm starting to believe. Yeah, they are the best I've
put my foot on. Maybe I wont get rid if the G afterall. The
brakes are truely amazing!

Re: Time for rotors and pads!
I must correct myself here. The front pads cost $161 and the
2 front rotors were $328, bringing the total front brake work
to $489. This included labor as well. So it really isn't as bad
as I originally reported. My total 30,000 mile service cost
me $784.13 That really hurts! They wanted to do a bunch
of stuff at 30,000 miles that I didn't want. So I just had them
do the throttle body cleaning, transmission service, and all
the checks and inspects. The throttle body service seems
to have made a difference. Now I'm appreciating my G
more and considering driveing it less. More quality time
instead of more total time. LOL
