Hubcentric Rings & After-Market Wheels

Some questions for any wheel experts...

I understand with after-market rims, you should get hubcentric rings (hub adaptors) since the after-market rims would have larger centerbores (to fit a variety of cars), and need the adjustment rings to properly a specific car model.

My questions:
-- are the hubcentric rings specific to the brand of wheel, or are there generic rings that work for many after-market wheels?
-- if generic work, who makes them (which ones are the best), and where can you buy them?
-- some rings are plastic, some are aluminium. Is plastic acceptable? what is the cost of plastic vs aluminium?
-- Is the G35 hub is 66.1 mm?

Thanks!

Re: Hubcentric Rings & After-Market Wheels

I think that the manufacturer of the particular aftermarket wheel will have specific hub rings for their wheels. This is why when you purchase aftermarket wheels, the retailer will ask you what vehicle the wheels are for. I haven't heard of any generic hub rings. I think that aluminum hub rings will be much more durable than plastic ones. You are correct on the hub size.

Good Info on Different Fitments

Found this site with good info on fitting kits: http://www.rimstock.co.uk/rimstockuk...ckframeset.htm

If you are buying new rims, then you don't need to worry about this, since the place you buy from should provide mounting kits specific to your vehicle.

I was fortunate to find a nice set of new 16" alloy rims in a private sale. The mounting hardware that came with the rims had a hubcentric adaptor for a 67.1 mm hub diameter, and lug nuts for thread pattern of M12 x 1.5 (12 mm diameter, and thread pitch of 1.5 mm).

So I need to get new hubcentric adaptor rings for Nissan/Infiniti's 66.1 mm hub, and lug nuts for Nissan's M12 x 1.25 thread (unless stock lug nuts work).

Does any know if the stock lug nuts work with after market rims? The new rims require the conical/tapered lug nut. Can anyone tell me if the stock lug nuts are conical/tapered (so I don't have to remove a lug nut to find out!).

Thanks!
