Brake Dust Help
I know I've seen a post on this before but I can't seem to find it. I'm a new owner of a G35. What's the deal with the excessive brake dust that gets dumped on the front rims? Does it get any better as time goes on? Is there anything you can do about it to lesson it? Thanks.

Yeah, I'd like to find out if it gets any better over time too. After about a week of driving (mixed city and freeway), my front wheels have a nice coat of brake dust on them and are noticeably dirty compared to the rear wheels. After two weeks of driving, my front wheels look gun metal grey!

Do I have great news for you! You can certainly take measures to significantly reduce the brake dust on your wheels!
Change your brake pads to an aftermarket brand such as the Satisfied Pro Ceramic from tirerack.com, or the EBC Greenstuff, there's a sticky at the top of this forum about the EBC's. There are other owners using different brands as well, Hawk and Axxis to name a couple.
Everyone who's changed pads has reported a significant reduction in dust. I just ordered a set of Satisfied Pro Ceramic from Tirerack, after 20,000 dust filled miles. Affordable too at just $37 and $9 shipping.

That's a pretty big list, there's also the Stillen Metal Matrix pads that some have used with success. The big problem is that many of the aftermarket pads are only available for the fronts. If you're concerned about preserving the front-to-rear brake bias, you need the same brand/type of pads front and rear. The Metal Matrix pads are available for front and rear, brembo and non-brembo.
I plan on just dealing with the dust until my pads wear out. If you wash your rims really well, then apply car wax to the rims, it will help protect them from the brake dust, and make it easier to wipe the dust off when you clean them again. Eagle1 A2Z wheel cleaner seems to work well.
