Toyo T1R Farewell :(

I had my Toyo T1R since last summer. Have maybe 20K km on them, about 5 autocrosses and 3 track days. Well, they have turned into mung
Should have gone with new Azenis, but a..hole salesman with spit at his mouth was convincing me that T1R would last longer...

Bottom line-excellent UHP tire, but do not take it to the track, it will turn into slime.

I have seen similar reviews about goodyear eagle F1s. I have done some canyon runs and drove the car to the limit for 30 strait mins and i could tell that the tires were getting very hot and gummy with DSG 3s. Normal street use or even 30 minute hard canyon running will not make ur tire become like that.

What he said. I mean you just need to burn off the top portion of rubber right?

Burn out won't help-corners are really worn out. I rotated them since rears a bit better, should be enough to close the season.

I can attest to the T1R's not being very good at AutoX. But how are the RT615's in the rain in daily driving?

sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but this thread might help people looking for tires. I wish I saw it before buying T1R's. I gave them a try because tire shops kept telling me that Toyo improved and the T1r's are great.

I just replaced my rear Falken 451 rears with T1R's (size 285/30/20). In the rain the T1r's grip is excellent, but I can't stand the overall ride of T1R's. In dry street driving conditions at 40psi, it feels like i'm rolling on pillows. Even on slow turns it feels like the sidewall is folding over or gliding over butter. After seeing that picture I guess it explains why a 30 series tire feels like this.

For someone wanting a smooth soft ride, they are great. I don't want a really hard ride, but I like to feel road feedback.

I have the old T1-S tires and need some new ones. Are the T1-Rs considered the best tires available now?

No, there are better tires out there, albeit at a higher cost.

The KDW2 I'm running now is great in the dry, and ok in the rain, but man I miss the T1R in hard rain. That tire evacuates water so well...

I am seriously considering Nitto NeoGen... It has good treadwear and is supposed to be better suited for lowered cars with camber issues.
