My exhaust and audio make tire noise less of a concern.

Probabaly Toyo is trying to gain some market share and has nice incentives for tire dealers?

I've gone through 2 sets of these.. they don't last long at all... I went through my first set at 9k... and my 2nd set... they are already worn down!

Toyo T1R's are great tires. If you have your alignment correct, they should last longer than some people are complaining. They also aren't as loud as other high-perf tires. They do have small sidewalls, so just get one size wider to compensate.
