New Tires for Sedan

I am thinking about changing the tires to 235, but the size that is avilable for 235 is 235/45 R17. Will this have a great effect on my car?? Which tire should I get?? I am thinking about Pzero Nero or Eagle F1 GS-D3.......

Help me out here guys!
Thanx in advance

That's not the right size. Ideal would be 235/45/18 (but it doesn't sound like you're planning to replace the rims). Or, 235/50/17 is the best fit for 17s. I don't think there's a whole lot of selection w/ either of those sizes however.

You might want to use a tire calculator (this one is good: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html).

235/45/17 is a great width, and the lower profile will look awesome, however, the sidewall of this tire is shorter than stock, hence the circumference is smaller. Accordingly, your speedometer will indicate a faster speed than you'll actually be travelling.. my guess is that if your speedo reads 60, your actual speed will probably be actually 57.. the tire size calc. will probably give you a better idea.

Also, your odometer will read high, assuming a 4% error rate, every 100 miles on the odometer equates to 96 actual miles. Putting it into perspective, your 60K warranty would run out in 57,600 miles if you had ran these tires since new.

Re: New Tires for Sedan

A 235/45R17 tire requires a minimum 7.5" wide rim, as well. The sedan's rims are 17x7. Too narrow. A 235/50R17 works.. there are a few decent touring tires available there that may be better than the Bridgestones.

In the stock tire size (215/55R17) you have 3 choices (all of which are OEM choices as well):
Goodyear Eagle GS-D (summer performance)
Goodyear Eagle RS-A (all-season performance)
Bridgestone Turanza EL42 (all-season touring)

You can fit 225/50R17 or 225/55R17 tires on the stock wheels, though the speedometer will be slightly off one way or the other. The advantage, though, is a vastly improved tire selection, including some decent summer rubber choices. (The Eagle F1's you want and the Bridgestone S-03's are available in 225/55R17.)

TireRack.com is a good spot to look at what's available for various tire sizes, though they don't carry everything (no Toyo or Falken, for instance).

This tire calculator will tell you exactly how far off you'll be on a different tire size:
