Re: Winter Tires

225-50-17's. I called all of Denver trying to get the 215-55 ws-50's... no one had them but I'm glad now becasue I think the Lm's will be better for this car. Going wider isn't really a good thing for snow tires, but it isn't much wider Apparently if you go up ten in the first #, you go down 5 in the second...so I've been told. A few of the tire places suggested gettting dedicated 16" winter rims..... I guess that would give you more options.

Re: Winter Tires

That is what many of us have decided on...the difference in diameter is less than 1%...plus it is easier to change wheels than tires and you have the wear on the alloy wheels.

Re: Winter Tires

I just got my LM22's... haven't been able to try them in the snow yet, but they handle beautifully on the dry road. I can feel a tiny more "float" around fast corners, but not to an uncomfortable point at all.... actually it feels kinda good because it just pushes you into the turn more. So far so good (except for one of the workers at the tire shop getting black all over my willow seat and them scratching one of my rims... rrrrrrrrr)!! Maybe we'll have a white Christmas... then I can really see how they work!

Re: Winter Tires

Talk to the manager there. They should be able to do something for your for the seat and rims. I agree with the LMs. Best winter tire I've ever tried on dry roads. Waiting for more snow here in Edmonton as well. The two earlier snow falls are largely gone. Probably going to be a brown Christmas. We've had some bad overnight freezing rain twice over the past week though. Glad I had the LMs on.

Re: Winter Tires

What is the difference between LM 22 and 18s?

Re: Winter Tires

LM 18s are not available in the US, only Canada and Europe.
The biggest difference is in size availability. Also the LM -18 has a newly designed "honey comb" siping to enhance the gripping edges for slippery surfaces without sacrificing block stiffness.

Re: Winter Tires

You indicated you put 4 18" Blizzaks on your G35SC -- were they all the same tire size? If yes, anything different about the handling or whatever compared to the OEM slight difference in sizes between front and rear?
