Determining Offset

How do I determine what the offset is on my wheels? They rub a bit in the front, and I'm considering replacing the front 2 with a different offset. Does anyone know what the proper offset should be on 20x8.5" wheels on a lowered sedan?

Re: Determining Offset

check this Wheel Technical Information

Sedan fitments according to Discount Tire Co:

WIDTH / OFFSET / SIZE

6.5 +30/+50 205/215
7.0 +30/+50 205/215/225/235
7.5 +33/+50 205/215/225/235
8.0 +38/+50 215/225/235/245
8.5 +45 235/245

REAR ONLY
9.0 +55 245/255

I.e., using 7.0" wide wheel the max recommended width is 235's, and "+30/+50" is the minimum/maximum offset for that wheel width. Most aftermarket wheel availability will be right smack in the middle at +40.

They also said: "When only using the narrow 7" OEM wheel, a +35 is nice as it pushes outwards towards the fender lip for a more aggressive stance. An 18x7.5 +40 rear on a sedan will bring the assembly out around 3/4" farther than stock for a much better look."

Don't some wheel mfgr's cast/forge offset right onto the wheel? That would be very helpful.
