Flat tire and damaged rim...
Hello,
Let me start by saying, I have 20" Volks on 285/30/20 Nittos in the rear. Yesterday, after getting off the freeway, I was pulling into a parking space in front of my apartment and my tire apparently blew out. As I rolled in the last few feet to park, I hear metal scraping on the asphalt. As it turns out, I was rolling on the inner part of my rim. My car has no suspension mods and the tire had less than 11k miles on it.
After meticulous inspection, I was unable to locate any nails or punctures in the tire. However, there was a vertical tear down the sidewall of the tire outward from the rim on the inside of the tire. This seems highly unusual for a tire that has so few miles on it.
The tire is beyond repair and the rim is severely scuffed on the inner part of the rim (not visible from the outside, fortunately.) Do I have valid reason to go back to the tire manufacturer or retailer to have this tire replaced and have my rim repaired at their cost? I can only imagine the possibile incident this could have caused had I still been on the freeway.
Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Brian

Unfortunately, I didn't get road hazard. But I was wondering if this could fall under the category of product defect. I'm sure it would require some sort of further analysis of the tire...
