May want to have them painted instead due to the thin spokes of the wheels. The powdercoating process will weaken the rims somewhat

Thanks for the pictures. I've heard that if I paint them that they will chip very easily and will not last very long that is why I decided to do powdercoating, Many people talk about F1 motorsports for southern California, does anyone have any idea how much they are charging?

I heard powercoating can only be done for the whole thing...
So if you want polished lip you would have to paint it instead of powdercoating...
I don't know if it's true

not technically true but true in a sense. if that makes sense. there are some powdercoaters that will take on the challege. there is high temp tape. but it the tape peels off while in the backing process. then you may be FOCKED if all the powder didn't attach to something yet. but you can always polish after but then you have to tape off the powdercoated parts and also making the job difficult trying to get into tight spaces and not messing up the powdercoats(any direct abresive will mess it up). so it can be done but how well it's done depends on the professional. i hope this all makes sense.

Do the wheels have to be stripped and polished before powdercoating?

depends on which route you want to take. yes the paint has to be stripped before powdercoating. it is your decision to polish after or polish the lip before. i recommend after since even if you tape it perfectly with hightemp TAPE some powder can get under the tape and stick to the metal under the tape. making you have to polish it twice. powdercoat can be stripped with some 1000grit sandpaper.

someone who polishes wheels will know what to do. but it can be done. i recommend polish after. but the paint does have to be stripped before powdercoating.

the point made above "i recommend paint because of the thin spokes" i recommend this as well and you can get duplicolor's clear wheel coat.

i use dupli color on one of my other rims and still no chips from 6 months use.

a friend had a shop paint his rims and one rock ship in 1 month use
