Tire suggestions

Looking to upgrade the skinny stock tires. Any recommendations on pricing/size/place to get some? My previous supra had wider wheels in the back....can I or should I, do the same with my Gsedan?

Re: Tire suggestions

I personally have 235/45/18s on my car--which means that the total height is exactly the same. IMO, the extra rim size and width looks great.

Mine are the Continental Contisport2s, BTW, and I got them at TireRack.com.

I went with 235/50-17 Pilot Sport A/Ss on stock wheels. Great upgrade if you're okay with the stock wheels.

Re: Tire suggestions

And if you're okay with giving some blood and a kidney to pay for them! Is it just me, or are Michelin's the most expensive tires out there?

235/50R17 is the best plus-zero size available for the stock rims (virtually no change to speedometer/odometer). 225/50R17 and 225/55R17 are a little off, but within specs, and have a wider range of tire choices. If you want to go wider than 235, you'll need wider rims.

I wouldn't stagger the tires. The sedan has a slight tendency to understeer as it is, and wider rubber in the back than in the front will reinforce that tendency.

Re: Tire suggestions

225 50 pilot sport a/s is just as closer or closer overall diameter is 26.1 on that tire. I have them installed on my sedan.

Yeah, Michelins are crazy pricey! I've said this before, but the economic choice that I would have gone with would have been the Falken ZIEX ZE 512 in a 225/50-17.
